There are eight black head coaches out of 30 teams (27%). Black players account for 75% of all players. 13% of America is black. Are there not enough black coaches and players, or too many?

To be honest I don't know how big of a problem it is. I have never gotten the vibe that they have much of an issue with hiring black coaches. Sterling was racist but he had a black GM for years and Doc was his coach at the time he was banished. In individual circumstances yes but in terms of league wide I'd have to say no.

Since this is coming out, will Mulli, Haugh, Kaplan, The Undefeated, etc. all apologize for not digging deep enough to see if the Bulls actually tried to interview minority candidates?

KC Johnson said this morning that he believes the Ferry and Wilcox interviews occurred some time ago; bad optics interviewing those two for sure and contributed to the media's narrative of the interview process.

Well kudos to the Bulls for trying if true. Plus back to my original comment in the other thread about not getting worked up about race here. We don’t know the facts or complete outcome.

Of all leagues, the NBA needs to have diversity in its ranks. And generally they’ve done an okay job coaching wise.

The Undefeated is complete trash. Jerry Reinsdorf has been a leader in diversity hired for years. Kenny Williams. Jerry Manuel. To even imply this is laziness.

Reinsdorf has his flaws but I have never gotten the idea that this was one of them. When he hired Kenny Williams he really took a lot of heat from the Chicago media. Most of them just really seemed to love Dan Evan's for some reason. They acted as if he was so much more deserving of a shot even though his actual credentials were not much better than William's. They both were inexperienced guys with no track record but for some reason a number of guys at the Score in particular, really made it seem as if Evans was screwed over.

I remember calling Mike Murphy to complain about him saying that Williams was hired simply because he was a minority . Reinsdorf certainly knew that he was going to receive heat yet he still hired him anyway.

As far the media goes Ozzie had Cowley in his pocket. Just like Thibs and Jimmy Butler did. That's why all of the coverage was always heavily skewed in favor of each.

Oh Ozzie's kid was way worse. Frank is a great guy though, and the best player in franchise history. I know it's hindsight, but if they kept him and Rowand that 2006 team would have been great down the stretch.
