I know the runner is an unearned run, does that necessarily mean scoring as if he reached on an error?

The placement of a runner being scored as an error is something I heard from one of the hosts on XM MLB Radio. It seemed odd to me as well, but they would be accurate.

Pitcher has a perfect game going through 9 innings and comes back out for the 10th in a 0-0 game; opposing team gets to put their fastest guy on 2nd to start. Lead off hitter flies out deep to right, runner moves over. Next guy up grounds out to deep short or another deep fly ball, runner scores. If it's the top of the 10th, pitcher gets the next guy out. His team doesn't score in the bottom of the 10th. Game over, perfect game still?

No.

The forerunner on 2nd is officially scored as an error. Thus, the perfect game ends at that point. It is still a no hitter as he pitched to all batters.

That makes the rule even worse. Who gets charged with the error?

Oddly, nobody, it just goes into the wind. I guess thats how the low minors did it last year.

Hawk Harrelson should be delighted that we finally got the "team error" he always wanted.

Why score it anything? It should be assumed runner on 2nd because it's an extra inning game. It's a rule like any other.

You have to wonder how much of the reason why the players turned down a good deal from the owners is because the well off players are happier sitting at home doing nothing.

It's a shame there won't be an All Star Game this year because Javy's biggest threat to winning the vote at 2b just took his name off the ballot.

Feels weird that today would have been the All-Star game.

Looking good. Play ball.

I predict Moncada will start smelling his bat after foul balls.

Are they actually going to pump in artificial crowd noise on both radio and TV?

The Blue Jays are getting kicked out of Canada.

They won't be allowed to play at their stadium.

You'd think someone in MLB with a brain would have checked into that since its less than a week before the season starts. Jerry can invite them to the Rate since it's usually where displaced teams end up playing.

It's pretty obvious they could have started this season 1-2 months earlier without any increased risks to safety
