Trail running went awry yesterday. Anyone have any good remedies to get this Caller Bob under control in a week? I’m going to Montana and would rather not be miserable. Ice and elevation I know but I’ve never had a grade two before, it’s way more miserable than a one.

That really sucks man. The only thing you can do is stay off it at all costs.

Maybe lift some weights to keep circulation up but in any case, don't put pressure on it.

Wrap that bitch good and tight in Montana. There's a placebo effect that works for a few hours.
Ankles are one of the easier injuries to live with. You'll be fine. Get a good inflammatory for up there cuz it will be barking at you come nighttime. You could take the easy way out and get some Vicodin or Tylenol3s. Hard to get opiates these days from a doctor. Gotta tell him it's a 10. Or 11.

Ice, compression and elevation, initially.

Then heat.

Quote:
After sustaining a sudden injury, ice therapy should be used for the first 24 to 72 hours and, after that, individuals can transition to heat therapy in order to increase blood flow to the area.

He's going to Montana. So he'll be "playing hurt". It's going to swell. Do NOT put heat on it up there.

He has a week before he goes there. He can treat it aggressively until then.

He should also invest in some high quality compression socks. It'll force the inflammation down and he'll need it for the flight. Really important to wear a tight compression sock during the flight.

Something that goes all the way to the knee. It'll hurt getting on, but it'll be worth it.

Just making sure the heat thing is clarified. As far as compression socks, not good enough. Wrap it.

You need an ankle brace. They gave me one when I tore a tendon in my foot. Worked wonders.

I believe masking the pain is a bad idea unless you are competing in something.

Definitely for an ankle. Even with an immobilized ankle, you can still be 90%. It's the easiest of all joints to deal with.

Thanks boys, this is the straight dope I needed. It’s bearing weight with no drama but walking is unpleasant. I’m also driving two thousand miles out there, at least it’s not the clutch foot.

Wear an ankle brace to prevent tweaking it again. I bought a Mueller ankle brace from Walgreens and it keeps my ankle stable with no issues.

I completely disagree. I rolled my ankle playing basketball in college. My whole foot turned black and that thing did not heal for 3 months.

I broke my leg once and it was just a one time pain and then a few months in a walking cast. The ankle was painful for months.

I guess that I got lucky, six crappy weeks were enough for the same thing

I meant joints. The black and blue is a hemorrage, so what? It's ugly is all. Walking cast is better than a sprained ankle? I'd rather have the pain.

Just giving my opinion.

I prefer not having pain to having pain.

If you just stop feeling it, you can start using it.

I rather not be impeded. Shower, car, sex, work, etc. A disability placard would be nice, I guess.

I wouldn't mind some shower car sex work.

Anything to make a few bucks these days.

Isn't that the name of the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers album?
