A doubleheader in different cities against different teams is a tough one

I think, for 2020 only, if you lose a player to COVID, you should be able to draft a player from any minor league team. You pay the portion of their salary that they play for you.

If the original team needs them, they get priority to bring them back and the team losing the player gets another pick among the minors.

At the end of the year, all players revert back to their minor league organizations.

It would at least attempt to maintain some competitive level.

16 games scheduled today (with a couple double headers). Where are all the cuck boys spouting off how MLB has been a failure so far? Crickets?

I'm enjoying the "season" thus far. Its not nearly as good as a real season but I think that over-all baseball has done a fairly good job of this considering what they are dealing with.

Agreed. It's gotta be killing the liberal "Corona Bros" who have been cheering the virus on and everything, and life as we know it to be cancelled. They have to be in tithers that MLB hasn't completed folded yet.

True story. I talked to my 97 year old aunt in KC on Monday. She's in an assisted living facility in KC. She's very much a huge Democrat and when talking to her she told me how sick she got when worrying about the China Virus and naturally blaming Trump for it. She knows that I am a Republican and we laughed when I said what I said about that.

So I told my aunt to stop watching the news on TV and watch something else instead. She said that she loved watching baseball so I kidded her about the White Sox stomping the Royals. It was amazing to me how much that she knew about the Royals, their players, and the game itself. We had a great conversation about baseball and she was happy that we talked about something other than the crap that the news puts out. So in this case, at least, baseball must fill a pretty damn good need for some people to get their minds away from doom and gloom and onto something that is fun and you never know what is going to happen. 8) 8) 8)

Yeah, that is great. My mom never was interested in any sport nor was my MIL.

My grandfather was like that with the Sox and oddly, Alabama football. I came by on his last football Saturday, he was literally spitting up blood into a bag and made me sit, watch and enjoy that game. My own parents were fanatical about watching their grandsons' baseball games. I laughed at the time and noted that they came to exactly one of my games/meets.

STL/DET was again postponed today because of COVID.

To date, there have been a TOTAL of 3 full scheduled days that haven’t had a COVID cancellation.
....yay.....

The Marlins have screwed this up the most. They’re in 1st place and have played 6 total games (10% of the scheduled season). The Braves are in 2nd and have played 7 MORE games than they have.
And 2 of the Marlins games are (scheduled) 7 inning wins.

This thread is gonna be fantastic in a couple weeks when there are 10 teams with no shot at the playoffs and therefore give even less of a crap about these terrible protocols.

My parents came to exactly 0 of my high school baseball games. I remember I had a Saturday DH at loyola, which is a 10 minute, all expressway drive from the house and no one showed, not even my girlfriend. OK dad. I get it if you had to work. How about armour park versus big D on a Saturday. You could practically fall out of the office downtown to that park.

My younger brother played freshman basketball. I used to go to those early ass games every weekend I could. We got to St. Francis de Sales on a Saturday morning before the custodian.

Would you love me if I started more?

Do you really expect us to believe that?

I don't mean your parents pulling the no-show, I mean that you had a girlfriend.

I get that "cheering on" this virus is your thing, but it doesn't hurt to sit back and enjoy this season, even if it's not perfect.

sad dolphin

I literally never played a game without a parent there and Id say 98% of them both were there. Different eras though with you being so much older

It wasn't sad. No one's family or friends came to games. Little league games draw more fans than high school games, even when hyped up prospects are playing. We played at park district fields so maybe we'd get the random drunk or pedo to watch.

Last year there was a game at Worth. Worth vs Bedford Park, two pretty good teams. Worth up 7-6 in the top 6, Bedford batting....bases loaded, two outs, full count.

Batter hears a coach behind her quietly (but loud enough for her the catcher and ump to hear it) "take this pitch"

She takes strike 3 right down the middle, inning over

But it wasnt a coach. It was some guy who just wandered over from the apartments by the field. Bedford coach and parents were pissed but what can ya do?

I wish I had been there, one of the funniest softball stories I ever heard.

It was fun just hanging with friends. On Saturdays, the boys from Taylor street would bring sandwiches from Fontanos we all pre ordered and we'd have a team lunch between games of a DH. Of course, without parents there, coaches would swear at us like sailors and occasionally smack a kid...and there was the little issue of one coach later in life getting into a jam because of indiscretions. I always wondered why he would give my one teammate a ride home but not have room for me even though I lived only a couple of neighborhoods over.

Yeah. That's right. Nothing sad about it. With me, it was no big deal. In addition, as a coach, I have watched so many parents take what I would say is a way too big of an interest in their kid's sport to the point of being a giant pain in the ass of the coach of the team and/or put too much pressure on their kids.

Can someone tell me what the fuck is the point of the taxi squads then?

I thought those squads were implemented just for these type of situations?

if 5 guys get sick, you get 5 guys up to replace them.

Fuck baseball. Can't do shit right.
