Deshaun’s knees were a concern, but goddamn if his NCAA resume wasn’t one of the best I’ve seen.

I know what Doug meant. They've only had 2 black QBs that were announced the starter before a season started. That's correct. Evans and Stewart.

But they have had 2 backups. Maybe even more than that but I don't think so.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky wasn't a one year wonder. No one cares about QBs at UNC. The most attractive thing about him was that he was inexperienced...the more inexperienced you are the easier it is to imagine you to be something you're not. Classic dumbass mistake then he overpaid on top of that.

I’m not sure if he’s racist or too clever for himself—I think he might just be plain dumb. No offense to those of you that went to EIU, but the guys from my high school that went there were shop class sort of guys. Although Sean Payton seems pretty sharp.

Well if Pace saw himself in Mitch, why would he draft him? Pace's ass never made the NFL.

You're making it too complicated. Pace just fucked up. He's not the first GM to do so. He won't be the last.

From what experts have said, Mitch was the highest QB on the board for a lot of GMs. It just would have been nice if we had a lower draft pick that year, ironically, where he couldn't have made this mistake.

How do you not at least let that guy win you over.

He was arguably the best QB in the draft at the time of the draft. He had all the skins on the wall a player could have. The main questions about him were his medicals and not securing the ball. One of those is easily coached.

I do think people are dismissive of the very real medical issues with his knees. I despise drafting injured players because the bears have been burned so often doing it.

Still, you interview that guy.

Pace thought he had his guy, and was so worried that someone else was in on him that he traded up and was very secretive about it. To assume race is beyond lazy. Also the RGIII multiple injuries were still fresh in everyone's minds. Blowing out a knee for a quarterback with mobility as a trait is certainly a concern.

He wouldn't even consider Watson or Mahomes as backup plans. You at least need to interview them to be able to say "I really like (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, but if he isn't there can I go with this guy?".
