Texans and Lions.

Could argue Falcons, Eagles and Jets. Either way this is a bottom third franchise going forward.

Let's start with their own division, they can look down on every team except the Packers.

I thonk Detroit and Houston win more next year.. Id say the Jets and thats about it. This D will take a step back next year to average and we win 5 games. Detroit should have swept us this year.

Lots of overreactions now because of that press conference. George and Ted should never be allowed to speak, but things aren't THAT bad.

Yup. It's actually a bigger problem that we are better than so many teams but also far away from the elite teams.

Worse is Minnesota, big money tied up in a mediocre QB.

Redskins have a competent coach a RB, and Chase Young.

Raiders are better than the Bears.

Chargers have a QB.

There is still a lot of young talent on the Bears defense too. Let's see now that Pagano is gone

This. The O-line looked better toward the end which should be considered an improvement going into next year. Montgomery, Mooney and Kmet please Bob and they appear to be solid players but none of them appear to be stars. The D has been slowly declining over the last 2 seasons and there’s no reason to think that will change with a new coordinator. And ultimately the QB situation will likely be worse. That, in particular, puts them in a bad position. If they draft a guy at 20 then it’s almost a certainty he won’t be of any help for a year and more likely 2 (assuming he turns out to be good). By then the D will look entirely different. The Management team as well. This is why the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky miss is such a killer.

Zippy a lot of what you said is true, but starting caliber NFL players can be found in the draft until the 3rd round usually.

This isn’t the nba.

Cole Kmet would be a 3rd string TE on the RAIDERS.

I agree, but what does starting caliber mean? If they choose an O-lineman at 20 he should start and be solid immediately. Still a QB problem though. If you choose a QB then he’s likely not a starter or at best going to struggle. At that point your premise requires the guys picked in rounds 2 & 3 to be immediate starters and also good. History says that’s unlikely. It just doesn’t seem likely that next year won’t be a step back.

My whole thing is not wanting a starting QB in this draft.

There are way too MANY holes to fill in one draft and offseason for this team.

It’s asking too much for the Virginia McCaskey/Ted Phillips regime to competently fix everything anyway.

I’m all in on Dillon Gabriel 2022.

I think that’s a reasonable position, but it requires (essentially) tanking next year. Unless you extend Pace and Nagy further into the future I’m not sure how you get them to buy in.

Gonna invoke the Charles Barkley rule: being mediocre is worse than being bad. We're mediocre. I'd rather have a top 5 pick.
