I don't know how to get this through your head, but he's not better defensively. This isn't a constroversial position I'm taking; if you said that among stat guys you'd be laughed out of the room, and rightfully so If I had Jeter, he'd be playing second base. And if I had to chose between Theriot and Jeter at short, I probably would play Jeter, but absolutely not because of his defense, but because of his hitting.
Meanwhile, you're taking Ramirez, who has played a below-average second base and moving him to an even more demanding position?
Huh? You'd play him at 2nd or you'd play him at short? Their both on the same team and you play Jeter at Short? You lost me. You say Theriot is a better short stop to GM's and Scouts and you get laughed out of the room.
I guess I dont get your point about Jeter/Theriot.
You put those guys on a board for any team to take and ALL of them would pick Jeter. And I like Theriot.
And Ramirez's main position is Short Stop. He's the best they have now and everyone in the organization feels the same way. He's more versitile than Cabrera and Cabrera's solid. Thats why he's playing 2nd. He's below average 2B? Do you watch the games? Your stats are flawed in this case because he has improved. I dont care what your stat bible says. He has great range that reminds me of Roberto Alomar. He throws back to first after moving to his right better than anyone I've ever seen. And he is starting to hit like Soriano did when he was younger. Sky's the limit.
Shit Irish! I'm not out of line here. Calm the fuck down. I dont see very many Jeter games so maybe I'm missing something. I do watch a lot of Chicago Baseball though and from what I see, Theriot is a fine player that can play three positions but I FEEL his best one based on his range and arm is 2nd. Thats it.
Lets move on. Have a good Sunday.
