Dalton is bad, and old. I'd rather have any random young draft pick/UDFA QB, and hope for a miracle. With Dalton, your ceiling is "don't completely fuck up and maybe we can win games 17-13".

Cowboys might have the best skill position players in the NFL. Their WR group is phenomenal.

Does it matter? Neither QB is the future of the franchise.

Pace and Nagy are just hoping to stopgap their way to contract extensions.

Mitch's positive numbers are deceiving. The bizarre success of the Bears dump passing propped his passing stats up. The organization lost total confidence in him. Proof is they rarely let him try to go long on 3rd and long, and just dumped it off. They beat bad teams doing this, but good teams it doesn't work. The telling stat is his only 6 passes +25 yards in 2020.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was inarguably a better quarterback than Foles with the Bears last year.

Foles fought for his life when he got stuck with the O Line at it's worst. Mitch returned to a much better O line after tweaking it.

Let's not quibble about which inadequate quarterback is the worst of the three.

The fatal problems are the McCaskeys, who are so ignorant that they evidently don't know what they don't know about football, and the overmatched incompetents they appoint to run their team.

That's a pretty amazing coincidence. The Bears OL looked bad because Foles can't move and teams could easily defend him and he isn't a good enough passer to make up for it. There is a reason the OL got remarkably worse as soon as (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was benched and remarkably better as soon as he was put back in.

That's true, but it's better than rooting for the hypothetical Chicago Cardinals.

It was bad Mitch's first shot too. Do you watch the games, read analysis, interviews? Follow the NFL? They revamped the O line is a fact not my opinion.

Same thing happened with Chase Daniel. I think that the Bears may find out that their improved pass blocking was the product of having a mobile quarterback.

I didn't see anything about the OL being bad while (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was starting the first few games. That same OL was also letting them rush for 130-150 a game with him those first 3 games. Over the next 7 games, they would be around 30-50 a game besides one where they hit 96. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky gets put back in and they do 100+ for the rest of the season.t

The OL was bad because Foles isn't a good enough passer to make up for how easily a defense can defend him.

With that said, it still shows the flaw in your statistic. Foles was "outperforming" (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky just like Dalton in that stat and no one would argue that Foles outperformed (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky last year. Even Nagy had to cut his losses on Foles last year.

Their improved pass blocking was partially a function of their improved running game.

The inability to run with Foles in the game can't be a coincidence. It was almost instantaneous. Attempts were down but yards per attempt was way down.

you have to acknowledge that the line got better when they moved Mustipher and Bars into the starting lineup and Whitehair to guard

Mitch, Foles, Dalton, draft pick....doesn't matter. The Bears are in NFL hell. Not bad enough to get a top 3-4 pick, but not good enough to make a serious playoff/Super Bowl run. They will manage to win 7 or 8 games again next season. Maybe that gets them another 7th seed COVID Wild Card loss, but thats likely their high water mark.

The Defense will continue to be good, not great, and by the time a draft pick QB or whatever is ready to rock, the D will be atrocious.

This organization sucks. Nothing is likely to change as long as the McCaskeys are the majority owners.

I don’t follow them nearly as much as I did in the past. It’s not worth it to me anymore but I suppose, as I age, this is becoming more common with sports. I actually don’t hate this signing. I think it’s pointless and a waste but I’m pleased they haven’t traded 83 draft picks to get a 32 year old Russel Wilson. Nothing changes as long as the McCaskey family continues to run it the way they run it. Could they do something wise and hire an actually football guy as team president or someone who at least understands how to build a franchise? Could they get a GM who is worth his salt? I suppose but I just don’t see it happening. They’ll continue to hire consultants and search firms to get some former scout or assistant GM who will be in over his head. Its frustrating as hell and at times I wish it was easy to switch fandoms but really, it’s easier just to not make time for them at all.
