So pissed I missed this.

Actually heard the endin' on WGN 720 radio.

It was kind of a mindfuck. It took the announcer a second to realize what happened and to get excited about it.

Maybe you aren't KS, but indeed 312. Every prediction he makes is wrong also.

Yeah it’a great. I bet the opposite of what idiot HY says, and it has resulted in a 71% win rate since I started last November. I put the winnings in a separate account. I started with $500, and it is up to $3,691.76. Got to love a good moran.....moron!

Edit: if you decide to follow this strategy, please bet $50 per game in honor of Hawaii being the 50th state.

There are email chains going around my work with HY-isms. They think the guy is posting from a mental institution during “free time”.

Gonzaga wins on a last second hail merry from half court to win the game and advance to the final for the first time in history. Quite the match. Anyone else see this?

It was a really good game.

I think Baylor wins in the final.

True. They matched up real well against the 11 seed.

I did. UCLA shot 58% and lost. That squadron played the match of lives.....and lost.

Will the Zags roll? Was this their gut check game? Probably, but I wouldn't put any amount of money on it.
Especially at -200.

best since the fabled Laettner shot game and might even be better than that one. This one was in the national semifinal with one of the teams being a massive underdog.

different eras, can't compare older teams to teams in the one and done era. How good would those teams have been had they been in the one and done era? Larry Johnson never steps foot on UNLV campus nowadays. Ewing is gone after one season. Laettner, Hurley both gone before Grant Hill ever shows up.

Gonzaga played Kansas, Auburn, West Virginia, Iowa, Virginia and were supposed to play Baylor but they had the Covid. Your conference schedule you can't control but not many schools played a more difficult non conference schedule.

their conference schedule sucks balls, but they played a murderer's row pre-conference.

Kansas (#5 at the time)
Auburn
Iowa (#3 at the time)
West Virginia (#11 )
Virginia (#16)

Unfortunately their December 5 game vs #2 Baylor was Covid cancelled. But, looking back it was a good thing cause now both teams face each other with total blank slate.

That's exactly why you can compare them. In the Big East's heyday, 2 or 3 teams from that conference alone would beat Gonzaga. Hell, think about that 1984 Carolina team that lost to Indiana.

If Bird wanted Red Auerbach's cash, we don't get the Bird v. Magic rivalry in college and maybe not even in the pros. But yeah, teams on this level are now too few and far between.

Sure you can. Those teams did exist.

Doesn’t matter if they wouldn’t exist now. They did and they were better than teams now.

312 is like my CFMB brother. We are very much alike in our sports thoughts and opinions. sometimes even non-sports. big difference though is he likes dogs.

I was messing with Doc. Back when he was proclaiming Illinois as the best team in the country he used the reasoning that Gonzaga did not play anyone.

You guys are missing the point. Obviously those teams are better than Gonzaga or any great team from this era because this era doesn't have very many NBA upper classmen and definitely doesn't have any upper classmen future NBA stars.

That's why it's not fair to compare those teams to Gonzaga. Those teams wouldn't exist if they were playing in this era. Gonzaga is playing under a much harder set of circumstances if the goal is to build an all time great team.

So yes, to put it in simple terms that you guys can understand, Gonzaga is NOT as good as the great teams from our youth. Those teams had it much easier than Gonzaga when it comes to roster building and player retention.

When you say that Gonzaga isn't as good as the great teams of yesteryear you're essentially just stating the obvious. So very astute observation guys.

Don't know about that. All depends on if Kispert is going to show up for the first time all month. Odds are he won't in which case you should take that bet.
