Wilke is a one-lane curved (!) road where you need a "residential" light to turn onto Palatine. Whereupon you are then greeted with Arlington Heights gridlock from lights at Arlington Hts Rd and Rt 12.

If we factor Bears fans trying to be clever and using Waze/Apple Maps/Google Maps to get onto Palatine it will be even worse. The north/south lights will be longer as fans try to turn onto Palatine via Windsor/Schoenbeck or Wheeling Rd.

I'm sure NCH would be ecstatic with Bears traffic being routed via Central...

You also have to remember there is a Metra stop there, which city dwellers would likely use to get to/from the game. Unlike the CTA for Cubs games, Metra actually adds extra trains for big events.

You’re talking north of NW Hwy, friend. I thought I said direct NB up 14 - maybe that was another post. Close Wilke NB at that intersection, control the neighborhood entryways off Wilke in the blocks between NW Hwy and Central.

Hospital traffic benefits from almost wide open lanes up & down Wilke and Central (depending on direction). That combo allows almost unobstructed traffic for ambulances. Traffic officers could conceivably control the cars in the event of an emergency. NCH will be fine.

My parents are already vehemently opposed and they're north of Palatine; not even in the directly affected areas. Arlington Hts is full of the neighborhood types who'll fight this tooth and nail. What else they gotta do? They live in the suburbs, y'know?

Let them fight it. The land is already a sports stadium. The only thing they could stop is an entertainment district.

I think the neighborhoods would grow to appreciate keeping NFL traffic off their streets a few weekends a year.

My quick plan may be wrong/dumb, but there are ways to do this that wouldn’t harm the surrounding areas. Hyper local concerns are just that and over time, it’ll all work out. I’d focus more on fighting a permanent casino that a football stadium.
