I expected the bats to be cold. They are an inexperienced team on the road to start a playoff series against a very good pitcher. I thought maybe they would do more against the bullpen but they got down by so much that it didn't really matter. I couldn't even lay money on them with a good conscience.

Today is a different scenario. Other than being on the road, this is a favorable matchup against a LHP who has been trending in the wrong direction. It's not so much a must win game as it is a game that they should win. I think the line at +120 reflects that perception.

Giolito has to deliver under pressure. The Sox can't go down 0-2. An under the weather OG Abreu can't be the only bat that shows up.

Win today and its a best of 3 series with two games at home so advantage Sox. Lose today and they just aren't good enough to contend for a WS this year. That would suck, but it is what it is.

As good as the Rays are and as prolific as the BoSox offense can be, I think whoever wins this Sox Astros matchups goes to the WS for of the AL.
