The Sox had 7 hits and one walk. They had no extra base hits.

Rallies are when you score runs and put pressure on the other team you dipshits.

The game was over in the fourth inning.

Bang that trash can!

The only thing that was banged around yesterday was the Sox pitching...

Technically just Lynn.

I expected the bats to be cold. They are an inexperienced team on the road to start a playoff series against a very good pitcher. I thought maybe they would do more against the bullpen but they got down by so much that it didn't really matter. I couldn't even lay money on them with a good conscience.

Today is a different scenario. Other than being on the road, this is a favorable matchup against a LHP who has been trending in the wrong direction. It's not so much a must win game as it is a game that they should win. I think the line at +120 reflects that perception.

Giolito has to deliver under pressure. The Sox can't go down 0-2. An under the weather OG Abreu can't be the only bat that shows up.

like I said, yesterday wasn't a favorable matchup for a number of reasons, including who was starting and it played out that way

I really like their chances today.

Win today and its a best of 3 series with two games at home so advantage Sox. Lose today and they just aren't good enough to contend for a WS this year. That would suck, but it is what it is.

As good as the Rays are and as prolific as the BoSox offense can be, I think whoever wins this Sox Astros matchups goes to the WS for of the AL.

7-8-9 of the Sox lineup is an automatic out. (and Eloy hasn't hit since August) The Sox are a fraction, talent-wise of the Astros. As soon as you realize it, the less disappointed you will be when the Sox go home in 3-4 days.

What is with this notion that you have a massive starting pitching advantage today? Giolito is solid yes, but so is Framber Valdez, he is no scrub.

that's not barely and even if it were, Caller Kneel and Bob, full season stats are far less important than trending stats and record against the opponent

better starting pitcher and better bullpen

the line is down to Sox only at +107 so you can wait out your Astros bet until this game is a pickem

I think it is based on the Sox ability to crush lefties

Over his last 5 starts, Valdez has given up 5 homers among 40 base runners in 29.3 innings, and the Sox have killed lefties all year. A noted Astros fan such as yourself should know this.

You're welcome.

Yup. Sox right handed hitters have an .821 OPS with 52 HRs (27% of their team total) vs LHP.

And is also counting on the Astros folding like a cheap suit and being shut down facing the great Lucas Giolito.

The last time the Astros faced Giolito, they mustered one run on three hits and couldn't even knock him out of the game.

Again, noted Astros fans should know this.

14% of which come in games played during the work week below the Mason Dixon line with first pitch scheduled before noon PDT.

Vaughn has been ice cold for a month.

With their speed and a lefty on the mound, Leury and Engel should be trying to bunt their way on.

Not sure if true. I'll need an in person report from the stadium to confirm.

Most of these guys played in the post season last year. They are not inexperienced. However if they win today it is like yesterday never even happened.
