A kick landing far from the FG net in a zero-sum situation is the perfect metaphor for Nagy as an expert on offense.

I didn't hear it discussed, but I assume that was the longest FG attempt in Bears history?

Maybe Nagy was trying to get fired?

this guy is using an endzone view to question an offsides missed call? btw, robert quinn sees no issue with the alignment of the steeler's defenders

Players all the time lineup that close to the LOS as Quinn did last night. It is like they just started enforcing it last night. Very bizarre.

No worse than Quinn's position that drew an offsides

The officials had no problem with the way Quinn was lining up until the Steelers needed some help. If we found out years later that the NFL's Tim Donahues were officiating this game, I wouldn't be surprised.

Isn't the length of the football considered "the neutral zone" where both teams can be? Or is no one allowed in the neutral zone except the center?

I’m confident it’d have been good from 48.

 maybe

I do find it funny he lost his streak on a dipshit call from Nagy

If he were smart he should have hid in the equipment boxes like a Lions (or was it the Raiders?) QB in the 80s

It was such a flagrantly stupid move for so many reasons.

And who gives a shit about the kicker disclaimer - but think back a few years to when the position was totally fucked. They finally find a guy to stabilize the position and Nagy’s dumbass wipes out 12+ months of work (4 kicks shy of an all time record) on a kick nobody in the history of the league could make.

Nagy's initial advice was to kick it sideways/horizontally.

Pretty sure it looks like the ref is ready to block it.

It was a terrible way for the streak to end, but he didn't exactly make a lot of tough kicks.

I was listening to Hub on Parkins and Spiegs today and he laid out how the refs had essentially swung the game in the Steelers favor by making roughly 15 terrible calls or swallowing their whistle.

When will one of these OL stick up for Fields after yet another post whistle shot?

I thought Mustipher and Bars were supposed to be those kind of players.

The offense can't afford any negative plays. Waiting until a failed 3rd down to deliver that message would work too. Apparently he's being hit more than we see on television.

I’ve seen Tony Corrente get personal to people on the field before. I’ve experienced it, I’ve seen it with other guys too. I don’t mean to go after the guy, but I’m going after the guy. I’ve seen it, I’ve witnessed it personally.

I got hit late in a San Francisco game. I threw the ball, I’m taking like four steps and I’m looking up in the stands, then I get cracked in the earhole. And I get up and I’m like, ‘That was a late hit!’ And I might have said the ‘F’ word too. It was third down, so then I run off the field.

So next possession. Usually when you come back from commercial break and stoppage time, the referee kind of gives the quarterback a kind of warning, like ‘Hey, call your play I’m about to blow the whistle.’ He’s [Corrente] not doing anything to me. Now we’ve gone through three commercial breaks, a quarter break and he’s just blowing the whistle while we’re all just standing around waiting for things to go, and he’s just starting the clock. So finally I go, ‘Are you going to warn me before you start the clock again? Usually that’s protocol.’ And he just goes, ‘Are you going to apologize to what you said to me earlier?’

I wanted to lose my crap, and after that game I wanted to call him out. If we won I probably would have. But he just showed me, he was going to get personal, he was going to take the game into his own hands there.

So no, I don’t buy any of [Corrente's MNF explanations]. I don’t buy his answers. I’m calling him a liar, I don’t really care. I don’t buy it.

I stand by my call that the ref was pissed about the spin kick celebration and was looking for any reason to toss the flag.

Could very well be. Here is what I don't understand.

A guy does a whip kick, fist pump, yells something and its taunting. But the entire defense can run into the end zone and do a coordinated, choreographed dance routine to celebrate a getting a turnover and it's perfectly acceptable if not encouraged.

The NFL makes zero fucking sense with their rules. None. Its a big reason as to why I generally only watch Bears games during the season.

Guy sounds like a real baby.

I get him throwing the flag for taunting, even if it was stupid, I can see the way he could interpret that as taunting. But the stepping into him for a hip check is completely unacceptable and there is no way it can be explained away. He saw the guy coming and intentionally bumped into him. And there should absolutely be consequences for that type of stupidity.

I agree it's all dumb. I think the difference though is sportsmanship. Like it's unsportsmanlike to walk up to someone and yell "get that weak shit out of here" after a block, but if you were to do a quick celebratory dance about the block with your teammates behind the player's back, then it's sportsmanlike.

In other words, it's all dumb

Based on some of the shit that's picked up by audio, they could call an unsportsmanlike penalty on every play.

They should just drop all the taunting rules and just let players know they can do whatever they want as long as it 1) doesn't incite a fight, so nothing directed at players, and 2) as long as whatever you're doing takes no longer than 7 seconds. Get the shit out of your system and then get back to your position. Oh, and the unwritten rule should be no celebrations if you're down in the second half. Always aggravating to see a guy celebrate a first down catch while being down 17 on the 4th quarter.

They spend all game talking about wives, kids, mistresses, parents, and just about anything else you shouldn't say to another man, but staring at someone 40 yards away is crossing a line. When you include the choreographed turnover celebrations that Frank has pointed out, you really see how stupid and hypocritical that rule is.
