I think you're confusing a consultancy with a job. This appeared to be a consultancy. If Olin wanted a job, and if the Bears wanted to give him one, he probably would have worked under Harry for, according to this, low six figures.

He would be under the assistant's assistant though. The pool of money for low level assistants is less than minimum wage when you consider hours worked. That's why guys like Belichick give them bonuses. You take that job when you are trying to break into coaching.

This thing with Olin is a prefect example of the differences in the Score now versus 15 years ago. 15 years ago Boers and Bernstein had nothing good to say about Olin and had a laugh at his expense when he flamed out in New Orleans. 2007 Dan Bernstein would have said $15 per hour for Olin is $10 per hour too much.

Wasn't Olin extremely popular with and respected by his teammates (other than Fred Miller, of course)? Urlacher certainly felt strongly about him, as did a bunch of other prominent players on some pretty good teams.

None of this really matters. It was just undignified and inappropriate for George to address it the way he did. He was asked the question and could have simply answered that he disputes some of the story.

Remember, George was a TV reporter so presumably he should be the best PR person in the building.
