This feed is worth scrolling for more insight into the Flores situation. He's a Miami sports reporter/writer if I've got that right. He writes with a measured but clear anti-Flores slant. Like Nas said, he says all Belichik disciples have the same communication problem. He doesn't defend the GM necessarily but seems to fall on the side of blaming Flores/justifying the firing.
https://twitter.com/OmarKelly?ref_src=t ... r%5EauthorInterestingly, he suggests Will Fuller was fed up with Flores and that played a role in his not wanting to come back from injury. He also says Flores was good on defense but went through too many coaches on offense and couldn't fix their issues. Sounds familiar.
There was some report that due to his dislike of Tua, he demanded he be given final say on every personnel decision over Grier and Ross’ response was basically, ‘lol you’re fired.’
Omar Kelly (the feed I linked) says the narrative that Flores wanted Herbert and the GM wanting Tua is inaccurate. He doesn't say it was reversed but just strongly disputes the emerging narrative.
He seems like he's carrying water for the team or players.
That is the state of local NFL reporting, we certainly have our share of "Bears experts" that continually put the team spin on everything. They almost have to, can see how George personally attacked one of the few guys that will give you an honest take on the team.
This really makes you have to question almost everything you hear on sports talk radio because the goofs running the stations have gone to great lengths to stop any outside viewpoints from being heard, no more callers, no "Bears experts" that give you takes other than the approved thoughts coming out of Halas Hall, and having goofs like Holmes do the regularly scheduled hits with team reps.
We just had a "Be you", "Club Dub", type grab ass coaching staff and while the players supposedly loved it, and the Bears had "the best team culture in the league", the team sucked and did not even have enough belief in itself to line up and run the ball between the tackles on third and one, so ready for a hard ass guy that will hold the players/owners/GM accountable.
However, as I said before, and especially after finally hearing how George thinks via his personal attack on Olin for something that likely happened 15 years ago, there is no way George will be able to survive in a room with an Alpha male, and half the roster likely run crying to their agents after the first team meeting.
Can only imagine how Flores would have confronted Eddie Jackson after he gave up on a play as he did several times last year. I am betting number four would have found himself a nice and comfortable spot on the bench for the remainder of the game. That is in many ways the Patriots way, they move on from vets once they show a decline in performance and pick up draft capital in return, move down in the draft frequently for extra picks, of course you have to hit in the draft, but if you give yourself more picks you have more chances to succeed. This is of course directly opposite of the approach Pace took during his time with the team and is why he will likely be an area scout somewhere next year.
