I don't care about that line of thinking. Pace was not bad because he came from the Saints.

Not sure if he is ready for a job this big but I think I'd definitely talk to Byron Leftwich. Very dependent on who he'd bring along for defense and special teams.

And coached the Falcons right out of the Super Bowl.

While I don’t disagree, in the reverse -the Saints aren’t good because they have Jeff Ireland.

Meh, interview I guess is harmless. But it’s pretty easy to point to his recent success and where it comes from, and it ain’t Byron Leftwich.. that’s what I don’t like about these types of candidates.

Flores would be exactly what this organization needs, no club dub, be you BS, just an Alpha male, my way or the highway leader of men.

That is why there is no way the McKaskeys hire him because he likely would scare the crap out of them during the interview process.

They had security escort him out after hearing his philosophy on providing feedback to supervisors.

My initial inclination was in favor of Flores as well but I’m starting to wonder what went on behind the scenes. I wouldn’t be surprised if some stories begin to drip out. If the sources are players then I would perhaps give it some credence.

From what I read he didn't get along with the GM. They've got good personnel but at the same time he coached that personnel up. What sunk them is no RB and no QB.

Could be. I guess time will tell…or he will be snapped up by one of the teams that still has their GM.

This report has Tua suggesting Flores doesn't know how to communicate respectfully, lending credence to your thoughts. As you said, time will tell.

The Belichick tree doesn't understand that THEY need to personally win something before going full Belichick. That being said, Flores approach worked.

From your link:
"It should be noted that Hyde said the disagreements paled in comparison to some of the past ones involving Dolphins legends like Don Shula and Dan Marino. "

This feed is worth scrolling for more insight into the Flores situation. He's a Miami sports reporter/writer if I've got that right. He writes with a measured but clear anti-Flores slant. Like Nas said, he says all Belichik disciples have the same communication problem. He doesn't defend the GM necessarily but seems to fall on the side of blaming Flores/justifying the firing.

https://twitter.com/OmarKelly?ref_src=t ... r%5Eauthor

Interestingly, he suggests Will Fuller was fed up with Flores and that played a role in his not wanting to come back from injury. He also says Flores was good on defense but went through too many coaches on offense and couldn't fix their issues. Sounds familiar.

There was some report that due to his dislike of Tua, he demanded he be given final say on every personnel decision over Grier and Ross’ response was basically, ‘lol you’re fired.’

Omar Kelly (the feed I linked) says the narrative that Flores wanted Herbert and the GM wanting Tua is inaccurate. He doesn't say it was reversed but just strongly disputes the emerging narrative.

All these people on the search list for coach suck.

Look at former Bears already. Maybe none want the job, knowing how bad the organization is.

I am not interested in eliminating candidates because of where they have been. You could pretty much eliminate everyone with that line of thinking. Every organization has had bad coaches, GMs, etc.

I agree. I feel the same when people criticize QBs drafted from schools with poor track records. The player in question matters, not the school he comes from.

There is a lot of truth to not drafting the guy who plays every game with offensive talent that far exceeds their opponent.

Add Omar Khan from the Steelers to the list of GM candidates. Sounds like one to consider strongly.

Curious why the Steelers didn't want to give him the job after 20 years of service.

That is the state of local NFL reporting, we certainly have our share of "Bears experts" that continually put the team spin on everything. They almost have to, can see how George personally attacked one of the few guys that will give you an honest take on the team.

This really makes you have to question almost everything you hear on sports talk radio because the goofs running the stations have gone to great lengths to stop any outside viewpoints from being heard, no more callers, no "Bears experts" that give you takes other than the approved thoughts coming out of Halas Hall, and having goofs like Holmes do the regularly scheduled hits with team reps.

We just had a "Be you", "Club Dub", type grab ass coaching staff and while the players supposedly loved it, and the Bears had "the best team culture in the league", the team sucked and did not even have enough belief in itself to line up and run the ball between the tackles on third and one, so ready for a hard ass guy that will hold the players/owners/GM accountable.

However, as I said before, and especially after finally hearing how George thinks via his personal attack on Olin for something that likely happened 15 years ago, there is no way George will be able to survive in a room with an Alpha male, and half the roster likely run crying to their agents after the first team meeting.

Can only imagine how Flores would have confronted Eddie Jackson after he gave up on a play as he did several times last year. I am betting number four would have found himself a nice and comfortable spot on the bench for the remainder of the game. That is in many ways the Patriots way, they move on from vets once they show a decline in performance and pick up draft capital in return, move down in the draft frequently for extra picks, of course you have to hit in the draft, but if you give yourself more picks you have more chances to succeed. This is of course directly opposite of the approach Pace took during his time with the team and is why he will likely be an area scout somewhere next year.

No there's not. It's called evaluation. The surrounding talent factors in of course, but it should be only one of many considerations. A 5-star QB recruit is very likely to go to a program where he is surrounded by other stars. He doesn't become less talented because of that.
