You purposely create edgy threads maybe once or twice a week hoping someone will take the bait, and actually respond to your cries for attention.

Please don’t think I’m here to provide an opinion one way or the other on the contents of your post.

Simply reminding you this is a thread that should be moved to politics.

Imagine thinking sharing a widely disseminated video from an HBO show is "edgy"

Good lord, you shared a literal snuff film on here and created a thread just to share shit that you get off to.

This was 2006. I suspect he shares most of Biden's politics.

NEW RULE: if you're going to plagiarize a politician, plagiarize one who didn't lose. Joe Biden says he's exploring a presidential run in 2008. Yeah, I bet. Joe Biden "exploring a run for the presidency" is like me "exploring the possibility of getting high after the show." Yes, yes, thank you. The only difference--- . . . the only difference is that when I get high, I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing. Joe Biden is a nice guy. But the last time he tried this, he got caught stealing a speech from Neil Kinnock, who lost in a landslide to Margaret Thatcher. Here's some advice for Copy-and-Paste Joe: steal the words of someone who won a presidential election. So announce your -- haha -- announce your intention to run by first thanking your lovely wife, Tipper Gore.

Not sure if that's real or some of your better work, but he "endorsed" Biden before Iowa.

He's missing the point that it cannot be biologically possible for 20% of a population to be devoted non breeders unless they are organisms that asexually reproduce. Humans wouldn't exist if this was in any way reflective of reality. 17% of that 20% is lying or deluded themselves.

Through most of human history, unless you died having kids early on, you ended up having a lot of them. The one or two kid households have become common only recently though kids used to die a lot more than they do now.

I'd love to see if anything other than anecdotal evidence supports this. It seems like conventional wisdom only supported by 20th century photos of irish families.

and I am really beginning to dislike Donna Brazille. She's a (publicly) closeted lesbian and she gives no pushback on that, despite starting the show full of bravado saying she was there to combat his bullshit

she also seemed to have no clue who Adam Carolla was despite her "week of preparation" for the show

Humanity won't end because some people are gay, lesbian, transsexual, or simply choose not to have kids. Besides, the world is overpopulated anyway.

I would say that massive increase in world population from the time men invented the wheel until the time men invented electricity would indicate that many families were having more kids than the one to replace them upon their death.

20% is not some and yes, it will if 20% is not breeding. You need 2.1 fertility rate to sustain a population. Most of the western world is having a difficult time keeping up right now.

and no, the world is not overpopulated

demographers already expect that humans will hit a peak population this century and a slide down will begin

Is it? I'm no statistician but I don't think it does. I think its more similar to compounded interest over time

I don't understand what you are saying. If in the Jesus years, and all the years after the Jesus years, if people had roughly one kid per parent, then the population would stay roughly the same. Instead, it's gone from 100-400 million to 8 billion people over roughly 80 generations.

This is the best chart I can find but it also just makes sense when you think about how population expanded that you'd have to have people have far more kids than one per parent.

people were never having one kid per parent, but I think your point was that they were having a lot and I don't know if this is true.

Everything above 2.1 fertility rate from the time Lucy first mated resulted in an increase in population. Compound that over 70K years. So I don't think increased population is evidence that humans were having a lot more children per woman on average in 0 AD than 1950

a simplistic example would be Lucy is the first human. She has three children. Each of them has three children. That is an explosion in two generations but nobody is having a lot of children

It's somewhat variable but most things I found seem to indicate that the average family has been between 3-5 kids for most of human history.

We know a lot more about family size in the last 500 years for obvious reasons as record keeping was far better and more available and it is clear that family size has decreased significantly as countries have modernized.

There's no question women produced far more children in the pre-modern era than they are now. It's how micro-economies sustained themselves - by breeding new workers and soldiers.

We're an industrialized country. We live significantly longer. Our offspring will push the maximum expectancy of human life. The birth rate also generally declines in industrialized countries. That's why they have generally leaned on immigration to sustain or increase their population. Over the past 40 years our immigration policy shifted toward the best and the brightest instead of manual laborers. The best and brightest didn't have many kids or they went back home after college.

We are running out of resources to feed the industrialized world. Things like impossible meat or lab grown meat aren't being introduced because big business cares about our health. We've just about run out of ways to harvest enough meat to feed people and we have just about run out of fresh water in most of the world. Including industrialized nations. Our population has to decline in order to sustain our natural resources.

You're going to have to get used to 1 or 2% growth annually.
