My advice to you in your new gig would be to try and get the respect of your co-workers this time. You obviously grated on many of them from the get go at your stint on ESPN 1000. A little humility never killed anybody. You do need a fresh start but it won't do you much good for very long if you stick with the same grating attitude that fueled the animosity by so many of your co-workers. We pretty much just followed their lead.

OG you were one of 30 to be part of nba broadcast team in one of the top 3 radio markets in the world. I see the rangers as almost a step down in your career. But I support your choice and wish you success.

Riles talks about my ego. Well, Riles, I do think I have talent, but my ego pales in comparison with others I've worked with. If you don't believe you can make it in this business, you'll get eaten alive.

Mike, that's the thing. You're 40, making less than $35,000 a year.....you haven't made it. And you never will.

Pre and post-game for an NBA team and now pre and post-game for an MLB team. I'd say he's doing pretty well for himself. If he's happy that's the important thing. It doesn't matter what you think.

Hey, Mrs OG, when ARE you and the old man leaving town? I'm just curious how much longer I'm gonna have to put up with you..err "Grumpy" coming to "southpaws" rescue here. And take his brother "Fan-tastic" with you. You can continue your OG love circle jerk in Texas, and this board can be OG free.

Wow you've reached Chris Rongey's level, way to go. Was never personal for me, but the voice and things I heard just got annoying for me, just like I can't listen to Zaidman and others, but I wouldn't wish ill will on anyone so all I can say is best of luck.

I hope Carmen does the rest of the pre/post games. I heard him do one a week or two ago and it brought back good memories

Hey, A7, I'm not related to OG, just telling him like I see it. My opinion. Take it for whatever it's worth. Just like I take yours.

Watching the CLTV replay of Sportspage

so glad this guy is leaving town

Only a half hour in, and he's already dropped in his Texas gig and 'connection' at least 10 times

and his Cubbie loving bias was no secret, but he couldn't even talk good about them last year, real professional, well he was probably whining about never being able to fill in on Mac Jurko and Harry, and we know there were plenty of opportunities

Here's why OG's job opened in Texas. Scott bolted late - was it financial? Or does KRLD suck? Either way, have fun OG...

Scott Franzke joins Phillies broadcasting team
02/17/2006 11:56 AM ET
MLB.com

Scott Franzke is joining the Phillies radio broadcasting team, David Buck, Vice President, Advertising Sales, announced today.
The 33-year-old Franzke (FRAN-ski) will host the pre-game and post-game shows and do play-by-play for two innings on Phillies games aired on WPHT 1210 AM and the 21-station radio network.

A 1994 graduate (broadcast journalism degree) of Southern Methodist University, Franzke spent the last four years (2002-05) in his second tour of duty with the Texas Rangers as a full-time studio host of the pre- and post-game shows and fill-in play-by-play announcer on KRLD. He previously worked two seasons as the part-time pre- and post-game host for the Rangers (1997-98).

Franzke began his radio career as a talk show host with Prime Sports Radio, a national all-sports radio network based in Dallas, following graduation from SMU. He was the voice of the Kane County Cougars, a Class A affiliate of the Florida Marlins for three years (1999-2001) and he also covered the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, for Sporting News Radio.

During the last four off-seasons, Franzke handled sports reporting and sportscast assignments for KRLD.

Franzke won the 2003 Katie Award for best play-by-play sportscast from the Press Club of Dallas.

He and his wife, Lori, will relocate to the Philadelphia area.

Franzke joins Harry Kalas, Larry Andersen, Chris Wheeler and Scott Graham on the Phillies broadcasting team.

This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.

Interesting that Mike claims he beat out "100 people" for the job. Brian Dolgin was offered the same exact position a few weeks ago, and he turned it down for obvious reasons. The most obvious reason being Dolgin had a job at ESPN 1000. Mike did not. Once the Bulls season ended, he was out. Isn't that right OG? Or are you too big of a pussy to tell everyone what really happened?

I like the OG but on sportspage he seemed like a total tool, every second was a Texas drop. Also if you saw him on sports page he suffers from T Rex syndrom the shortest arms and smallest hands ever. You know what they say about guys with small hands...small gloves. OG stop acting like a bitch and a prick... or a tool.

It's probably not OG's day when OG's No. 1 fan takes a couple shots. I'm surprised more people haven't gone off on him for coming on here to taunt the peanut gallery. Frankly, I can't see many other people in his position doing such a thing, so it begs the question: Is he as big of a tool as many on here have led us to believe?
I'm beginning to wonder ...

Ouch. So a person who has to work late most nights and every weekend during the summer months only pulls in 30-40K? Even at 40K that is less than $250 a show and it is preety much an 8 hour shift.

I don't know how anyone goes into the radio industry. You start off you career having to work for free until you find someone to give you a job that pays you minimum wage. From there you can expect a big bump up to $20,000 and if you really do well you might make 50,000. Meanwhile, the union engineers at the station are probably making 75,000 to tell you that something does not work.
First of all, the person who posted as Mike Ogulnick isn't Mike Ogulnick because I am. As much as few will believe this, this is my first post on this site in several months. None of those posts defending me were me.

Having said that, I do appreciate those who enjoyed my work, and even those who didn't. Some of you got a little vindictive and personal, but that's ok.

I am moving to Dallas because this is an incredible opportunity for me. I am one of 30 people in the world who are part of a major league baseball broadcast team. You can draw your own conclusions, but I'm pretty proud of that.

I'll miss Chicago tremendously, since I've lived here all my life, but I'm looking forward to a fresh start in the number 5 market in the country.

Tick...tick...tick...I'm broadcasting for a major league baseball team.
Let's take this point by point, Mikey.

1. When you say you had not posted on the site in a number of months, you are lying. I would have more respect for you if you actually admitted what you had done.

2. When you say some of us got vindictive and personal, look at yourself in the mirror. Some of your posts were vindictve and personal as well.

3. You are moving to Dallas because no station in Chicago will hire you. No one cried when you left 1000. You certainly weren't going to be hired at The Score, and I don't think Sporting News would have had you back, considering the tantrum you apparently threw on the way out. It was either Dallas or getting a real job.

4. You will miss Chicago tremendously, but it will not miss you.

5. Are the Rangers really a big league ballclub? Good luck keeping fans interested when they fall out of contention in June.

Finally, some predictions. Mike will get bored with the Rangers and bored with doing updates on a low rated news station by July. He will start positng on the Dallas area message boards that he should be hired on either The Ticket or the ESPN station because he's the best thing to hit Dallas since the Cowboys Cheerleaders. He will alienate everyone in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and be let go at the end of the season. His biggest problem will be having to actually learn a team not named the Cubs. Unless Mike is right and Richie Zisk still plays for the Rangers, along with Jim Kern, Buddy Bell, and some ther guys Mike remebers from his baseball card collection.

That is all. Good night and get out Mike.

Hey OG,

Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey GOOD BYE!

Chicago's gain is Dallas's loss.

You sucked here and will suck in Dallas.

It's amazing that not one of your former co workers has said anything good about you since you left. You must having a truly unique personality that people dislike. Can't imagine that will change in Dallas.

That's the pot calling the kettle black. I think I know who you are and if I'm right, you're a no-talent ignorant piece of crap. 1000 really scraped the bottom of the barrel when they hired you. Mike is better and smarter than you. Always has been and always will be. Mike is far better off not having to deal with low-life scum like you.

Hey Grumpy, here's a thought. Why not tell us who YOU are since you're so sure you know who everybody else is? Pretty easy to rip apart "SNR guy" and call him a piece of crap when you're hiding behind an alias. It's called the pot and the kettle. You should check into it.

Fine, you win. Comments it is then. So, let me rephrase. Why don't you address any of his "rediculous and ignorant" comments if they're so off base? Because he's telling the truth and he's right. You have no comeback to those COMMENTS. You have nothing.

Hey Grumpy, you are way off base. I do not work at 1000, I don't even work in radio anymore [always did it part time as a hobby and always had a fulltime job so I could actually pay the bills and not live with Mommy and Daddy like you]. So, your 'no-talent ugnorant piece of crap' comment is stupid. And be careful about who you call low life scum, especially since a lot of people that Mike has thrown under the bus over the years think that is exactly what he is.

I found this on-line. Notice who the poster is...Goldie...an OG defender from earlier in the OG threads. Goldie, also happens to be Mike's wife. And the best part, she included her e-mail address. If you google Mike Ogulnick, you'll find this around the 5th or 6th page. Have fun.

Has anyone heard anything more about who Chip Ramsey will hire for the local shows at WEMP? I read something in last month's posts about Doug Russell, and while he's ok, I think a former Sporting News Radio anchor and host would be better.

Mike Ogulnick is working right down the road at ESPN 1000 and I think he would be terrific for the new station. I don't know if he's available, but Chip should find out.

This is just typical Mike. Once an a-hole, always an a-hole. Throwing Doug under the bus, as usual.

That's the pot calling the kettle black. I think I know who you are and if I'm right, you're a no-talent ignorant piece of crap. 1000 really scraped the bottom of the barrel when they hired you.
Maybe I'm off base but exactly what qualifies you to make those comments. You have no proof whatsoever that Mike posted on the forum until just recently. I know for a fact he did not. Most of the vindictive and personal comments were from me not him. I had to laugh everytime someone thought it was him. To say Chicago won't miss him is another idiotic comment. Believe it or not, Mike has plenty of fans, not only in Chicago, but around the country. The only people who won't miss him are the morons who post on this forum. Now you can all go back to your miserable lives. Do you have absolute proof that no other station in Chicago would hire him? If you're no longer in the business, obviously you don't. He was job hunting, the Rangers job came along, they listened to his tape, liked him and hired him. The station manager admitted that he was very sorry he didn't listen to Mike's tape first. He wouldn't have offered the job to anyone else. That's because Mike is damn good at what he does. Lastly, your predictions at the bottom of your post are nothing more than the comments of a blithering idiot. Mike will be very successful in Dallas. Meanwhile, you can go back to playing with your blocks.

Unbelieveable! You're bringing up something from 2004. Cry me a river, build me a bridge and get over it. You are truly a U.S. choice, grade A loser.

Even though I am not in the business anymore, I have friends who are - and at all three stations, it's no secret that he's not a popular person. I'm wondering about you, Grumpy. or maybe we shouldn't call you Grumpy at all. I think you are either Mike himself or one of his family members. How else would you know he was job hunting? How else would you know that the station manager apologized for not listening to his tape first. Why else would you quote a station manager saying he wouldn't have offerred the job to anyone else? Those would seem to be PRIVATE conversations, right. So, unless you are either Mike or a relative you couldn't have known about it. None of your posts have any credibility.
