What is benefit of Fields playing this week if he is hurt?

If he's injured, he shouldn't play. If he's sore, he should. The game experience he missed last year may have benefited him. I want him to be further along as a passer going into the offseason. Becoming a competent passer makes him a top 10-15 quarterback. Becoming a good passer makes him a top 5 quarterback.

He's banged up in a lost season and going against a real tough D.. this running for 100 yards a game isn't sustainable..rest him and bring him back after the bye.

Even if he sat on Sunday, I still want him out there against the Packers.

"Journeyman" Trevor Siemian has a slightly better career QB rating, better TD/int ratio, more pyg, equal sacks more starts than Fields. But, all in Spiegel referred to Fields as a "superstar" and a sure thing for the Bears to sign for big money. Haugh even brought up MVP talk for Fields.

He better have a quick release. This is a good chance to see how individual players on the offensive line function against an elite defense. Braxton Jones has kept the quarterback clean for the past 2 weeks. It would be great if that continues.

Siemian’s over/under for passing yards is 184.5, which is higher than it’s been for Fields all year.

I can’t wait to hear Spiegel, Parkins, Bernstein, and Holmes when Siemian throws for 240 and wins the game. (I don’t think it will happen, but how fun would that be…)

I'm just curious how our offensive line does with a typical quarterback in the pocket. Maybe the offensive line sucks but I have a sneaky suspicion Fields just isn't that good at reading plays and quickly releasing the ball. We shall see.

Remember how Andy Dalton looked last year?

Today is going to be a lot like that, except a little worse.

Some ball movement on short passes, stalled drives, no explosive plays, not much scoring.

The Jets are a different animal. I'm not sure how much the quick release will matter if the Bears get down by more than a touchdown.

Yes, by accident. And the Jets D will get 5 of them.

Siemian may be the best quarterback on the field today. I would have felt better about that statement if half of the Bears secondary wasn't missing.

I agree he might be better than Mike White.

No. I'm just highlighting he is a far better leader than Wilson and Karen.

Rodgers plays with a broken thumb on his throwing hand. Fields sits with an ouchy non-throwing shoulder. Such leadership. Maybe he should apologize the defense again.

I, for one, am loving the fact that Fields is not playing. He could be our franchise QB. Save him for now! We suck and, frankly, GO DRAFT PICK GO! Rest him and let him heal. We do not need him injured worse than he already is! Glad to see they are being smart.

Siemian gets his big chance, and pulls something warming up…. Sounds like a guy trying to bank some backup QB money for awhile without being hit much
