I think that is a perfect example of being TOO aggressive.

Screw T Young, they should've tanked for Wembanyama

They should have drafted Mahomes over Solomon Thomas. No one talks about that.

The pressure is on Poles. By 2024 he could be a hero or the next loser Bears GM.

Poles has at least 3 bodies to throw under the bus before they come for his job:

Fields
OC
HC

only then does Poles' number come up.

I think he has about 3-4 more years before there is heat on him. Unless he completely blows this draft.

That sounds right, yeah. Probably why he'll stick with Fields. Trading Fields and having the 1 in 100 chance Fields changes the way he's played QB for the last decade come to fruition on another team next season would be about the only way he'd get run out of town earlier, unfortunately.

I hope Poles has a list of potential trade scenarios for Fields on his laptop desktop that he checks and updates regularly. It probably wouldn't come out until well-after this off-season. But if Fields remains Fields next season and on the Bears and it comes out that Poles' had a trade offer or offers for multiple 1st rounders for Fields...that's gonna sting.

I think he will do just peachy. It took guts for him to cut the roster and free up free agency money and commit to Fields. And unless he is a total dolt, it will be very hard to fail to bring in good free agents and draft good to excellent players to replace the crap we saw on the field last season. To me, he needs to take good advice from seasoned experts and coaches and just DO IT intelligently.

Totally disagree. Fields is leagues better than any quarterback on any "draft list". Next to Mahomes who also had his own doubters in the NFL when he came out, Fields has a generational qb future. 6/4". 4.5 speed, 235", powerful arm strength, terrific escapability, etc. And he had NO HELP whatsoever in coaching with Thibs and no physical assistance with Eberflus. So he took his lumps and still did well over-all.

I'm not saying Poles will get fired if he doesn't have a good off-season, but Bears fan will have a meltdown because the bar is being set so high. Listen to sports radio. It's like the 3 win season didn't happen and they are headed to the playoffs if they make a couple of good moves

The bar needs to be set high. They have to set their goal high. For starters, they are playing in a very weak division. they also will have the weakest schedule in the NFL. They have DOUBLE the free agent money of the next team and a draft position which is virtually guaranteed them getting them 4-5 prime time players, oncluding two of the top five players in the entire draft. This TALENT INFUSION is going to be huge.

I'll take Young. You pick another rookie QB. I say Young far outperforms whoever you pick. Do you think I'm wrong?

I say the odds of young OR any other rookie quarterback in this draft becoming stars are so long that if the bears or anyone else take Young, I’ll take my chances with the next guy up OR draft a different position with that pick OR trade down to someone blinded by qb lust and acquire more picks and take a qb later on.

It's amazing trades ever happen in the draft. Just draft someone else.

I like the possibility of Pittman, the number four pick, a high second round pick this year and a number one and number two pick next year. It will bring them a number one receiver, a pro bowl defensive player as well additional draft capital to use in further deals or banked for next year. I could also see the Bear's trading down again at #4 to get an additional number one for a team wanting Carter or someone else at 4.

That's pretty much what the "trade" sites are predicting:)

I won't comment on Kap's reporting history, but I would take a 2024 1st round pick over Michael Pittman.

How valuable is Pittman to a team that just used the equivalent of a first on Claypool and is still learning whether their QB can throw the ball?

It’s irrelevant to what I’m saying. He may very well be the best. Likely even if you’d like. But it’s a coin flip and not worth sacrificing a great deal for when you can get another coin-flip of your own for free.

The whole point is it isn't a coin flip. Young is a far better prospect.

The coin flip I’m talking about isnt whether he is a better prospect. It’s whether he will be an elite QB in the NFL. That is FAR from a guarantee.

I think Claypool and Pittman are similar players. I think Claypool is better. The Bears need a receiver with size and/or speed to play opposite of Claypool. Mooney should be the slot guy.

You pay to move up to increase your chances though.

Sure you can. GMs do it every year, gamble everything on a hunch. Occasionally it works out. I think it unnecessarily reckless.

He's going to want an extension this year. For a guy targeted so much, he doesn't make any explosive plays.

Not defending Pittman but his QBs seemed to enjoy throwing 360 degree left handed interceptions to defensive ends (Wentz) and to the occasional defensive back (Ryan).
