The AL Central is going to take the brunt of the more balanced schedule. I know you're done looking for something to grab onto, but if any Sox fan is looking for something, it's that. That and health. I myself couldn't care less about winning a division half assedly, I'm completely done with that shit because promises were made. They're on tape and in black and white.

I guess I was wrong about Abreu. Now it looks like he was the ONLY leader in that clubhouse that got people ready to play. I mistook his quietness for lack of leadership but it seems like he was the strong silent type of leader, like Gary Cooper.

Something is def wrong in that clubhouse. When Pollock leaves 10+million on the table to go to shit hole seattle over chicago there is something wrong. Maybe the clubhouse is like a prison where guys just hang out with their fellow nationality/race. Like the Latin guys don't talk with the White and Black guys and White guys dont talk with the Latin/Black guys and so on.

Some guy just called Mully and Haugh and said the Sox outplayed the Rays for 23 out of the 28 innings.

it's gonna be awesome when they turn it on and win 82 games to sneak into an expanded playoffs and give Uncle Jerry one more home game for revenue

The only thing I can hope for this year is to enjoy maybe another 2-3 games in person with my son or friends, and nice weather. I am 1-1 in that department. I couldn't care less about the outcome of the game I attend. The one I went to was the Thursday game when the Giants hit like 8 HRs. My kid and I had a great time.

I get your point about being competitive in games and playing good baseball. Sometimes you play a really crisp game and lose. It happens, that's baseball. But I can't say the Sox went "toe to toe" with the Rays this past weekend. Sure they played better than they had in recent series, but still went 0-3. Kopech got rocked early on Friday, but the Sox were still up 2 runs in the 9th. That's a game you have to win. Saturday's game went to extras and the Sox failed to score with the ghost runner at 2nd. They only had 5 hits the entire game. When you're on the road you have to get the guy in no matter what. At least put some semblance of pressure on the home team. Giolito did his Giolito thing again yesterday where he often puts his team behind early in the game, and the Sox only mustered 3 hits.

Agree with your last sentence. The bar for this rebuild being a success was a World Series title. The bar for 2022 being a success was
winning the pennant. I see no reason to back down from that viewpoint anytime soon, which probably means a hellava lot of failed seasons from here on out.

The Astros have been the 'de facto cream of the-class' as they have won the AL Pennant the last two years. The Sox knew exactly what they were up against after the 2021 season. The team they had to be better than had just completed cleaning their clocks in the ALDS. The Sox got worse. The Astros got better.

Nothing will change until Jerry dies or sells and the longer this sort of shit goes on the more and more likely I think it is that the White Sox move to another metro area.

If my monkey math is correct , Sox have to play .564 ball rest of the way to get to the 86 wins it took last year for the last wildcard spot, .607 to get to the 92 wins Cleveland won the division with last year.

I don't think this team is capable of playing .560 ball for one month, let alone five.

Month of May? 7 with KC, 4 with Detroit, 3 with Reds. Possibly 16-13?

16-13 is only a .552 win%

7 series played, 0 series won. At least they are consistent.

On the bright side, 7 series played, only 6 series lost. Good thing they had that 4th game against Houston....
Only reason to have any glimmer of hope, and it's a very small glimmer, is 80-something games could win this division. Especially with the more balanced schedule.

Yeah with the Sox going 2-8 in the last 10, Minnesota and Cleveland both went 4-6. This couldve be really ugly if that were an 8-2 run for Minnesota .

This team is garbage...they are pretty much living up to what we thought they'd be prior to the start of the season.

Same old one-dimensional Sox. They make all the stupid mistakes.

Whit, nice job--

With a rotation that struggles to go five and this pen .500 ball for a month is a pipe dream.

Least inspired opening stretch since....2001, that I can remember. I mean, they may have had worse records, but this team is playing really uninspired ball.

I remember like it was yesterday, when the Sox signed Jimenez, Moncada and Robert to big money deals. Long term contracts, well before they were close to arbitration even. Frank was all giddy about locking these guys up ( as well as Anderson. Who was actually on a good team friendly deal) while I felt like it was a mistake. Injuries might happen and then you still have to pay big money out for many years, vs just going year to year a bit longer. Plus, it may make players less motivated, because they already are assured of generational wealth. This post is not just about pointing out that perhaps I was right.....that's a given. Seriously, I wonder if Sox fans now feel differently about the team giving out all those long term deals prematurely?

Tim Anderson far outplayed the value of the contract.

Luis Robert has done no worse than played to the value but probably exceeded it. Jimenez as well.

Moncada was already enriched by the Red Sox contract.

They aren't drowning from those contracts.

I'm surprised you had negative thoughts about the future of the Chicago White Sox. Seems out of character.
