And from Poles’ perspective, if he had made up his mind one way or the other but the majority of candidates went the other way, how does that affect who you hire and what you do with Fields?

He’s been involved with some good defenses but his time as an actual Defensive Coordinator leaves a bit to be desired. It probably doesn’t matter anyway since Flus is the actual DC.

Your hatred of Justin Fields is noted. Unfortunately for you, you are missing what should be obvious with who the Bear's have selected as their offensive coordinator staff. Both Waldron and Kerry Joseph have an expertise in developing quarterbacks who have failed in the past to live up to the expectations that the organizations that drafted them for one reason or the other. Joseph in particular was the main guy used for reclamation projects that utilized the qb's underlying skills as the basis for the design of plays which had a large probablity of success within an offense. Hence the success the two of them had with the resurrection of Geno Smith.

So, don't jump off thebridge when the Bears trade their number one pick for a boatload haul of draft picks and other players instead of taking another can't miss pick likely to end up on the trash heap of pampered qbs who didn't make the NFL

It is obvious to me that Fields has all of the tools to be a very good NFL quarterback. He can make all of the throws and his running ability is off of the charts. He has improved a lot last year with the improved talent he was given. It will be the new OC group to meld his talents with the play calls made not to force the play calls based on what an offensive coordinator dictates. Cutler was a egocentric quarterback who didn't take coaching well which is a difference with Fields.
