So she worked in the interim position for six months (Dec 2022 - June 2023) without getting the promised raise? Item 13 should be easy to prove/disprove. “Through DiCaro’s union representative, G/O had indicated that it would pay DiCaro the difference between her salary and $160,000 for the period that she held the acting EIC position.”

(Shouldn’t the complaint have more accurately said ‘G/O indicated it would pay DiCaro a salary of $160,000 for the period that she held the acting EIC position’? Maybe G/O really meant they would literally just pay her the difference. :D Seems sloppy, just like Julie’s editing.)

Can’t wait to see G/O’s response. Should be a fun lawsuit to follow.

This lawsuit probably is a lead indicator that deadspin is about to go under. When she felt the heat on her at 670 she claimed some crazy bullshit like the guys were watching porn on their computers at work, probably trying to set up a lawsuit but I bet it's easy enough to prove it didn't happen.

My guess is she never complained that her pay didn’t increase as allegedly promised (how would her beloved union not have fought that for six months?) because she saw an opportunity for an eventual lawsuit. The lawsuit would benefit her professional victim career more than the pay bump.

Just because you're performing a different role doesn't mean you should expect the company to pay you that. You often have to perform at the next level before you get merit to reflect that. Did she expect to be paid at a higher level because she was filling in or did the company actually commit to that as she accuses? I've never heard of that in my career (what she's accusing them). And....$160K for an editor of a failing site.

So assuming she was getting paid for those six months, she’s entitled to the difference between what she was paid and the $160k?

So if she was making $100k, the difference between the $160k and $100k would be about $30k for those six months. After lawyer fees, hardly seems worth the effort.

Unless the real play is more victimhood for her brand or even another book.

Yeah it seems like a union grievance should have been filed. I suspect it was not because the company never agreed to pay her that. But an employee should get additional pay for extra duties. Not sure how it works elsewhere, but both places I have worked have job grades. Those categories relate to the required duties. So doing your bosses’ job is a higher grade. And each grade has a pay range.

Good points here. Sexual harassment or work place harassment is a common lawsuit. I have not heard of suing for a position that she thinks she has earned without out an email stating that.

That was obviously a lie, cuz she sure as hell would have won that law suit.

This actual law suit is a lie too. I'm sure she's lying about the boss saying she would get paid that salary as a "temp". And if it's not in writing, she's not gonna win the law suit.
