The McCaskey's should just sell the team to JB. Problem solved.

Every year there's a news story that's like

Quote:
NFL fans are about to wait all day for Wednesday night.

The National Football League announced the creation of Wednesday Night Football, which will air exclusively on the brand-new streaming service Yrvu [pronounced "your view"].

A joint venture of Goldman Sachs and Walgreens, Yrvu promises to feature not only NFL action but also programming catered to "tomorrow's decision-makers, the health-conscious, and people who 'live the Walgreens lifestyle,'" according to chief marketing officer Emily Snerch.

Together, Goldman Sachs and Walgreens will pay $3 billion a year to bring a new night of football to a new platform, which will be available on "most smart TVs and devices in the weeks and months to come," as well as the closed-circuit TVs above the doors at Walgreens locations.

and also the Bears require a new stadium in order to be economically viable

Kevin Warren loves to say he won't focus on something and then focus on exactly that, so I'm predicting the McCaskeys do explore selling equity stakes in the team.

In my lifetime I don't think I've ever gone from knowing nothing about someone to disliking them completely in a shorter period of time than Kevin Warren.

“Never say never. But that is not something that we would ever focus on.”

If it is not something you would ever focus on, then isn't that the same as saying you will never focus on it?

$7B if they refinance the existing bonds from the original Soldier Field renovation, probably not important

Ted was just an accountant that the McCaskeys liked, Warren thinks he's a politician running for office AND that people already like him. Couldn't be more wrong on both counts Kev

By the way, the money the Bears are asking for from the state for a Chicago stadium will still be needed if it's Arlington Heights. Nobody seems to understand that. Which frustrates me that people in our media our that dumb.

is that true? it may be, but have we heard that from the bears on AH site? Could they partner with private investors given the AH site is so large there is much more flexibility to develop revenue generating businesses

The Bears want to refinance the bonds on the original Soldier Field renovation. That cannot be allowed to happen. So long as that doesn't happen, building out transportation infrastructure in AH is a lot different for the state than moving existing Soldier Field 500 yards south at a cost of $7 billion.

Do the bears have any obligation to repay that debt or is it all on the taxpayer?

I don't think so, IFSA seems to be the responsible party https://www.isfauthority.com/facilities/soldier-field-isfa/

I think there are so many more hurdles by the lake than Arlington Park. I've thought all along Warren was posturing about building a new stadium in Chicago.

Kevin Warren may have lucked into a great situation. He did everything he could to stay near the lake but it was impossible so the Bears have no choice to consider Arlington Heights and the school board will finally be realistic on the taxes.

I don't think he had any desire to be by the lake. I think the Bears are the ones who are getting realistic.
