I saw an interview with the counselor from east mississippi in last chance U and she said with a smile that she went on dates with some of her players. That shit may not be illegal but its highly unethical and this woman is just saying it like its nothing.
Men have have been conditioned to know that a relationship with an underaged girl is problematic. I don't think women have been conditioned the same. We laugh at it and maybe that is the correct approach but then it should be universalI think it's worse than this. Society has been conditioned to question any positive interest that any man takes in another person's daughter. We instantly view it as grooming or worse. MANY men live in fear of being labeled as predators. It's a label that becomes permanent, even if it isn't true.
Women are almost universally viewed as nurturers and trustworthy. Society doesn't fear them, even after they've been accused or convicted of violating a child. It's likely why they don't fear the consequences. It's a dangerous double standard.
I’d argue the physical differences between boys/girls men/women are the largest variables. It would be more difficult for a 40 year old woman to seem physically threatening to a 15 year old boy than the other way around.
It plays a role in the psychological side of the abuse. Obviously there can be other factors (embarrassment, coercion and so on) that can pressure a young boy or girl into these things but one of the biggest things missing on the boys end is the physical intimidation factor. A young girl caught alone with an older guy might feel she has to go along with the abuse or she’ll be physically attacked and over powered. I highly doubt the boys go thru that same process.
Bottom line is a man/boy could fight off a woman making unwanted advances while girls/woman mostly don’t have that advantage in these situations. And I’d argue that’s the biggest variable and why woman aren’t taken as seriously or looked at as harshly in these situations as men are.
