So far I can like Marshall. He’s is poking Bernteins bear.
Marshall seems to be easy going (thus far). While he probably holds many of Bernstein's ugly social/political opinions, he doesn't seem comfortable (or willing) to express them (thus far) on the show. Bernstein is still dropping in his angry opinions on these topics, but hasn't been getting any follow-ups by Marshall yet. In the past, Lawrence would normally agree and then repeat them in a very slow manner or take them even further.
So, the show is better if they are able to keep their non-sports thoughts out of the conversation. That is asking too much from Bernstein, but ideally Marshall will keep steering it back to sports.
On sports, Marshall seems to be a casual fan. He's not an "insider" like Dan or Lawrence are, and he does lack knowledge on topics that you would think he would be aware of....but he's not taking himself too seriously and can laugh about things which is a major (positive) change than most of the hosts who think they are experts/insiders on all topics and must take stands on every non-sports topic on the air.
Larry and Lil' Danny Bernstein are not insiders,
they just regurgitate what the agents/team/players are feeding them, you are not going to get original takes or thoughts from either guy, seem both guys peaked as the Bears Hit (two words) guy. The Bears Hit guys (Bernstein, Larry, Zaidman, and Grote) all remain gainfully employed at the station, kind of a reward for not upsetting the paper soft McKaskey family. The position breeds lazy sports talk radio hosts as the Bears Hit dude is just carefully telling you what the Bears organization wants you to know, so the guys that have filled that position become proficient at repeating other peoples takes on everything. The same disease permeates the local Bears media, guys like Olin scare those dudes because he exposes them as malinformed crackpots, didn't the CHGO guys retreat to their safe spaces quickly when Olin called them out.
Same guys that told you Nagy was a genius and that Mitch was ready for, and I loved this take they all had, that Mitch was ready for "The 2.0 level" of the offense?
Those guys are "insiders", naw, really just the pied pipers of the in town stupid parade we get throughout the day on WSCR.
