Years ago, Lovie put together a dominant "bend but don't break" defense. When his defense would give up 12 points and lose, MANY would blame the quarterback or coordinator, saying, "If only Lovie could get the coordinator or quarterback right."
When the Bears lost to the Eagles in the playoffs, the defense played great for all but their final possession. When the game was over, no one blamed Nagy for the lack of points scored. Everyone pointed the finger at (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and Parkey. Nagy was given a pass for his unit until Fields got drafted.
Bearded Eberflus defense keeps an explosive offense out of the end zone. His rookie quarterback misses countless layups. Instead of blaming the player, like they would have in the past, MANY point the finger at the coach.
Caleb led not one but two game winning drives. Again, he was really bad for 3 quarters but a competent OC and HC win this game in a blowout. I really didn't see many layups to be had, he missed some throws sure but Waldron starting every drive with a run up the gut makes the offense so predictable and he makes things so much worse with the absolute garbage he calls in critical situations.
