no way that play works, even if he goes outside. They had it covered

They showed a different angle from behind the line on the broadcast. There was a hole on the left side.

He would still be running if he ran the play as designed. The trap block was slowed a bit as the lineman was a half step slow getting to his pull landmark, but it is painfully obvious that this was supposed to be run behind the LG or LT.

They actually had the play set up perfectly, but seems a few things happened.

First off, Fields panicked when he saw the pulling lineman stumble and freelanced.

Secondly, Fields still thinks he can outrun NFL defensive players to the edge, he did that a few times 2 years ago, but looks to be either a half step slower or is a bit more cautious in the run game due to all the hits he has taken. You even saw him throttle down on the long run he had longer in the game.

However, the most obvious reason this failed is that the Browns did not believe that Fields was capable of throwing an accurate pass into a tight window, so they vacated the middle of the field and had both corners play with inside leverage.

The play is a textbook lesson on how NFL teams defend Justin Fields and why there will always be a well-defined ceiling on his career.

He had one awesome run around the edge later in the game.

All of this, plus the fact that the Browns slanted their defense the opposite way that the Steelers were going to run.

That could have been a TD.

Imagine, instead of pissing down your leg and fumbling the ball numerous times on drives close and late in the 4th quarter, a QB can engineer two, back-to-back scoring drives to tie the game and force OT. The Bears have a QB worth building around indeed.

I could see this for sure if Daboll is still there.

But I don't think that he will be.

Steelers insider Mark Kaboly answered a fan's question about how Pittsburgh's front office would navigate the offseason with Fields and Wilson. Kaboly wrote that Fields and Wilson will receive an offer, but Fields is more likely to turn down an offer from the Steelers, especially if Wilson stays.

"Try is a relevant term," Kaboly wrote. "Sure, they will ‘try’ to sign both of them if you mean going to Fields and saying, 'we would love to have you back at a backup price.

Fields lost his job to Wilson. Let that sink in for a minute.

This many years in the league and the Steelers can't trust him to run play-action passing plays.
Says it all.

So the offense is struggling and teams at times would look to bring in their 2nd string quarterback because he has a great arm and can possibly bring you back, I just don’t see that as an option here.

I am sure also here thru this thread that stated Justin Fields was better than Jordan Love. I am way too nice of person to point it out further but would respect an leader of our youth would accept responsibility and point it out.

Fields to Cleveland momentum is building.
Winston has been benched.

Fields, while better than the woke, El Jibbity, DEI draftee, was still ruined by the Bears Organ-i-zation. Even Thomas Brady couldn't recover from that.

Beter passer rating, more TD's, less interception's, and more overall runing and passing yardage for William's as a rookie in 13 games vs field's in 2023 with three year's under his/their belt. Keep lying you bitch whore.

from last April :

Aaron Schatz, the chief analytics officer from FTN Fantasy, isn’t buying the notion that Fields was just dealt a bad hand in Chicago. He thinks a lot of the issues with the Bears was Fields’ own doing.

“[Fields is] worse than meh honestly. Could we all be wrong about him? Maybe. Is it likely that we’re all wrong about him? No. Justin Fields is bad,” Schatz told Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the North Shore Drive Podcast. “I don’t want to say Justin Fields is bad because Justin Fields is fun, and Justin Fields is exciting, and the highlights are exciting, and the running plays are exciting, and the deep bombs are exciting. You don’t want to pay attention to all the other plays in between where he’s not good and all the sacks he takes and all the pressure he makes for himself and all the incompletions.

“Do you know how incredibly rare it is for a player to be at that level for his first three years and then turn into a reasonable NFL starter? There are basically two guys who have done it in the last 40 years, and that is Alex Smith and, if you want to call him a reasonable NFL starter, Jeff George.

This makes it impossible for Fields to play 51% of the snaps so we will be getting their 6th.

Maybe in week 17 he plays on defense.

The only hope we had in getting that higher draft pick was that Fields played really well or Wilson got hurt. There was no other way the Steelers were going to let him on the field enough to have to move that to a 4th round pick.

Field's did an ok job as a game manager. At this point he is Tim Tebow. Maybe he will try out for the White Sox. Would be the best player on the team if he can hit a curve ball.

Who gives a shit? We’re out of 50%+ world so doesn’t matter if the guy never gets another snap.

Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy, who stars on FS1's The Facility, took to the show to express his opinions on the Steelers quarterback situation.

"Why would you be keeping Fields other than to make him a backup, or give him a clipboard, or give him a package to run the ball here or there?" McCoy said. "He can't play, can't throw. He don't win. Explain to me, from a good franchise and a good coach, why the hell would we keep him?"

Guess he is not part of the Field's cult.

Same guy who said this about Caleb Williams

Quote:
"This transition from college to the pros should be easy for him. Obviously, as a rookie, it's going to be tough," McCoy continued. "But he has all the tools. Everything you need to be a special, generational quarterback, he has. The arm strength, the smarts, all of that... the ball placement, the accuracy, the feel in the pocket
."
1. "Ball Placement and Accuracy"
Caleb was one of the least accurate QBs this century
2. "Feel in the Pocket"
Caleb was one of the most sacked QBs in NFL History

3. "Easy adjustment to the NFL"
He was the QB of one of the worst offenses in the entire league and posted some of the worst stats in the league for a QB.
