They actually had the play set up perfectly, but seems a few things happened.
First off, Fields panicked when he saw the pulling lineman stumble and freelanced.
Secondly, Fields still thinks he can outrun NFL defensive players to the edge, he did that a few times 2 years ago, but looks to be either a half step slower or is a bit more cautious in the run game due to all the hits he has taken. You even saw him throttle down on the long run he had longer in the game
All of this, plus the fact that the Browns slanted their defense the opposite way that the Steelers were going to run.
That could have been a TD.
