The problem is that finding good cornerbacks is really hard and its a position with immense impact. When Tyrique Stevenson’s head is screwed on he’s really good, you can’t just let that go you have to try and make it work.

Having guys like Nate Davis and Chase Claypool get excuse after excuse and chance after chance set an awful precedent in the building. There’s no accountability in the Bears world, so guys like Stevenson who have all this potential just wind up squandering it because nobody keeps them disciplined.

People are STILL blaming the defense even after a game the Bears lost 6-3. smdh.

The Bears have a surprisingly good red-zone defense. They've turned some would-be touchdown drives into field goals and turnovers on downs. Something to be said for that. But doing bend-but-don't-break keeps them on the field longer than they should be, plus the anemic offense sends them right back out.

None of "The advanced stats" trumps their points per game avg. Particularly their avg when dupes like Caddyshack were bashing people for daring to say that they had an "above average" defense. When clearly they had an above average defense.

Without blinking I could easily find at least 6 more games which the Bears would have won this season had they simply had a better offense.

Nothing I said there is wrong. The "Bend, don't break" defensive principle means they allow teams to march up and down the field but tend to force them to settle for fewer points in the Red Zone. Those long sustained drives affect clock management because opposing offenses are given 5+ minutes of game clock to burn every time they get the ball.

They also got the brakes beaten off them 3 out of the last 4 weeks. That's not "playoff caliber".

The Bears very "above average defense" gave them a chance to be a "playoff team" this season. Their extremely putrid offense did not.

And the extrapolation of a few games "here and there" only further weakens what was on its face a rather stupid argument. At the time you were whining about the Bears extremely "above average" defense, they'd only given up more than 21 points once I believe.
