MLB and NBA would be well advised to shorten their calendar season and play less games. That's their biggest problem.
The NFL should be real careful. Their product is eminently consumable because they play less games and less game days. Constantly expanding into new days is bad for their product.
The NBA will never shorten its schedule because of the vast amount of money that it makes at the gate. Despite all the gibberish about ratings, the games still sellout at a very high ticket price.
The NBA's biggest issues pertain to what it puts out on the floor. Or in a lot of cases what it doesn't put out on the floor. You cannot continue to put a product on the floor year after year where the best players aren't playing.from game to game. People pay to see the best players compete and in most instances that rarely happens.
There are certain guys in the NBA whom you know will be sitting out 25-30 games before the start of each and every season. Somehow or someway they are going to find a way not to suit up. It gets tiresome trying to keep up with it and I believe many have chosen to stop caring and stop watching as a result.
