meatball Dan in these situations is the best thing the show has going for it.

Isn't it fairly predictable that Dan is going to be outraged at anything Poles or Warren say?

yes, but it's actually entertaining and correct and what Marshall interjects with are ignorant "corrections" that aren't even right. It's like having the out of town stupid guy in the room with you. The Score isn't supposed to be that.

It's not bad, just a bit tired to me. I pretty much know what he's going to say before any press conference. When he's not into the optics and just on the football stuff, it's better.

Harris still comes across as a nice guy, but just nothing more than a casual fan.

Leila thinks she's saying important things, and Harris/Bernstein treat her as if she is saying things that matter. Harris will disagree with her at times which is actually refreshing.

Real time responding to somebody else talking is a great bit. It works every time.

Ever see that chef who shit talks people’s home recipes? I could watch that guy all day.

That column Spiegel just read from Mike Royko about when Ditka was fired was so good, still applies today. The Bears hire people in their weak, milquetoast image and have for over 30 years. Can you imagine Haugh writing something even 25% as good?

Royko was a legend. Hard to expect any writer to come near his level.

I think that is accepted across the board. Royko had thoughts, but he also was a gifted writer. Royko was / is his own category.

Ironically, WSCR is not any different than the Bears. They stopped entertaining and investing in personalities that have thoughts. Their on-air talent is weak, milquetoast talking heads that schill for local teams and regurgitate news headlines.

Bernstein needs a dude that can keep him from devolving into the long SJW rants sessions that make the show unlistenable, maybe the new dude can keep him focused?

The time for Bears anger was before the year started, the actual smart dudes were openly mocking Poles for putting together his roster backwards. It turns out that guys like Jurko, Thayer, and Olin are actually way smarter than Dan, they saw that the team was soft in the trenches and openly questioned the lack of talent on the o line and dept on the D line.

It certainly took the "smart fan" Dan a long time to come to his senses, turns out the dude knows next to nothing about football, just gets his football takes from the Bears media people that are told what to say by the team.

Would say that everyone saw the weakness on the interior of the o line early, but several posters have revealed that they do not understand football enough to see basic flaws in line play, likely the same guys that still think WSCR is the smart fans station.

That's true, beyond the writing though, the thesis was spot on. There's just almost no one in town that can even get the thesis right, let alone write like that.

Caught a bit of them talking with Grote about the post season presser, seemed odd the Bernstein was off in his own little world with what looked to be Murphy's yellow pad full of questions while the new dude and the old CSN Chicago lady were actually signaling each other to make sure they gave each other time to ask questions. They also let Grote ramble and ramble and ramble where he said absolutely nothing, almost like he had an hour glass and was just trying to fill his time, get that feeling from most of the hosts on WSCR.

The video stream shows an odd dynamic on the show, really seems like it is Bernstein still clinging to his dated SJW type show with people actually trying to do sports talk radio.

Quite revealing.

Leila does not like when she's interrupted and, to be fair, it has happened on a somewhat regular basis. She's been a bit irritated on the air about it and now she has all of her co-hosts giving her the floor at times. That could be why she now also has segments dedicated to her "notes" (I still find it odd that all of them take notes during a Bears game when it's not that difficult to remember rather obvious takes) or her "receipts".

Bernstein has been busy all week defending the local media, talking about how they made Poles/Warren, etc. look uncomfortable with their tough questions and follow-ups. I thought the media did fine, they are asking most of the questions you would have expected so not sure I see Bernstein's hard hitting, edgy journalism that he pretends to be part of.

Bernstein has now gone on multiple shows attacking Gruden, pretending the Patriots are releasing minority names to show they are done with the Rooney Rule so they can then hire Vrabel, accusing teams of racisim (while being factually wrong)....You really can't get him out of this at this point. He's been allowed to offer crazy, far left commentary, his co-hosts endorse it, and he's been broken, as has pretty much everyone at that station, by Trump.

When I hear Bernstein, Leila, Holmes talking about the Bears in their smug, know everything takes, why don't the Bears just hire them since they know how to properly hire a coach and run the organization? To me, the smugnuss just drips from most of the hosts.

I generally like Biggs/Wiederer, and Grote may be a nice guy, but he's nowhwere close to being even an averge reporter. None of them have any insights into what the Bears are likely to do or why. They are not any more knowledgable than a smart Bears fan, but they can speak so they have that, but if you're looking for any super inside commentary, you're not going to get that, but this show pretends that reporters are having "informed" conversations and are dropping "between the lines" commentary every time they talk.

Reporters report...I don't expect much insight from them. Grote is fine. What's worse is a guy like Bruce Levine who they actually laud is as an insider and he's nothing but a company ass-licker.

hes almost always given first question at Cubs press conferences because they know he's a shill and will only ask soft questions without any hint of criticism

So true . Bruce Levine made his bones by cozying up to every player he has ever met and is a world class backside smoocher. His current co host on "Inside the Clubhouse" will occasionally challenge him. Bruce then gets all huffy and challenging as if one dare question the wisdom of Pope Bruce.

I don’t think Pope is the right one for Bruce.

Bernstein hating on Penn St and it's supporters still. In an unhinged rambling said PS supporters targeted his family and hacked into his charity's website. Even motormouth Marshall Harris' extended silence was like cuckoo... cuckoo...huh.

I’m ok with hating on Penn State this week.

Bernstein stumbled into the proper position for once.

Yeah, sounds like Dan is really the bad guy in this situation.

Dan’s fine. The Laurence transition today with the extended rambling about DePaul vs. ND “rivalry” was completely inane. Comparing one of the twenty or so most selective universities in the country to an irrelevant commuter school that has lower academic standards than many community colleges.

Notre Dame and DePaul have a rivalry now?

I’m not sure anybody associated with ND from outside Chicago knows DePaul exists.

 yeah that was something from Larry. He probably got rejected by ND, but you know he has to make it seem like he choose Depaul. Those are his peeps!

Didn't you go to SIU? I suppose if DePaul tries really hard to improve its academics, maybe someday it can measure up to the preeminent public university in the state.

And I would never say I “chose” SIU over U of I or Michigan. I went to SIU because that’s who would have me, not because “those are my peeps!!”.

With Bernstein revealing he believes he is being persecuted by Penn State supporters it's a tough call now who's crazier Larry, Julie, or Bernstein.
