I've yet to get an answer on how some employer is paying him to cover the Chicago teams. I hear him at every press conference that Comcast covers live. Les if your out their please answer.

Maybe he's on the Sports Talk Underground payroll.

I think he is the co-host of Diamond Gems, a weekly baseball show. Hell, I'm sure Les can still get a press pass with all his contacts. I imagine he also does some freelance stuff for other media outlets. He has to grow that collection of media guides doesn't he?

I have been the Midwest reporter for both ABC Radio and AP Radio for some 30 years,,so even if I happen to leave a local Radio Station,,I still have those things to do. I have covered the World Series,Allstar Game,Superbowl,Final 4 and other large National events for them. As I have told Steve Dahl and others,,,,covering News Conferences is mostly very boring!!
As for the local Stations here,,,I have a good relationship with both Mitch(at the Score)and Spaceball(at 1000),but there has been been no talk of going back to either place. I will likely be back at WLS this Fall for Notre Dame pre and post game,,and we are working on other things. I know several have emailed wanting me back at WSCR or WMVP but we shall see about that.
Let's clear up one other thing.....Anyone who thinks I was let go by the Score over an Allstar Game credential,,,,I have a huge Bridge in Bagdad to sell you!! Harvey Wells was going to get me out of there one way or another,,and just 3 days before my contract expired in July 2001,,he did so. That credential thing was BS. Ted Cox,Ed Sherman and Rob Feder know that and mentioned that back then in print. Harvey never wanted local programming on the Score during overnights from the start but since people like North,Gleason,McNeil,Ofman,Boers and others WANTED it and were all in my corner(and TDub's for evenings),Harvey relented,but NEVER was a Fan of what we did. That my friends is fact,and while there is more,I wont go into that untill perhaps I write a book(someday).

Just to clarify,,Mitch never 'launched' me. It was Harvey Wells and nobody else. As for that quote,,,,I told that to Feder in the context of: There is a difference between being dumb and stupid. When I hinted that I'm stupid,,it was in being stupid for having any trust in a guy like Harvey Wells,,but I did'nt say that at the time. They always say if you are diplomatic,you are better off. I found out what a bunch of baloney that is!! I never said I was stupid for any 'credential thing'. AND I dont apologize for anything done at the 2001 All-Star Game either!! By the way all of you guys in the post game press confrences ask some of the dumbest questions ever. Today during game one of Cubs/Sox was pathetic by you media guys. Including yours to Ozzie Les. "Ozzie what's it like to win game one of the series". Cmon Les what kind of question is that. There all good wins. Then Lacy to Maddux. "Why does Konerko hit you so well". Maddux said "I don't know do you?"

Les gave a female friend of his, a press pass with Swieca's name on it.

She left a sweater in the press box. MLB or the Mariners sent the Score addressed to Julie with the sweater in it.

Julie put two and two together and alerted management.

Management called Les in. Les was let go.

Was it a world class problem? No. Did Les take a risk and get burned by it. Yes.

Did harvey and Drew hate Les? He says they did.

He gave them a reason and they followed through with it.

Now I see why Les hates Julie.
