Kujoe, Bobby's been pitching literally on a tightrope since the All-Star break. Tonight's blown save and loss were bound to happen for #45. If the White Sox are in a save situation tomorrow night, Matt Thornton's got to be the closer after Jenks went in back-to-back games of this series. This one hurt, and not what my dad was hoping for...It's his birthday, and he's a big White Sox fan.

This fat fuck hasn't had a 1-2-3 inning since before the All Star Break.
Any package a team wants from us should include Jenks. He's garbage.

Was at the game today and witnessed great pitching performances from both sides. Richard and that 6'9 guy deserve the credit.

If I were Ozzie (and yes, I'm driving while my ass is in the backseat), I would have let Dotel/Thornton/Pena start the 9th inning ONLY because of Bobby's high pitch count from yesterday.

And if the Sox would have lost with the others instead of Jenk, I'd be bitching about that!

Don't know what the attendance was (either getting a beer or taking a piss or both), but there were a lot of empty seats. Both bleachers were about 60% filled from my eye of view.

His ERA is almost as high as the attendance tonight.

He's good. He may be going thru a rough patch. But he's good.

The only thing that scares me is that he is getting himself into trouble from walks and being 2-0, 2-1 in counts. Closers are going to have bad games from time to time, but Jenks has had trouble with the strikezone his last 4 or 5 outings.

First off, Mariano Rivera and Bobby Jenks should not be mentioned in the same sentence. This position is not one where he can "work through it". A starting pitcher can work through a control issue because he has 5 -7 innings as a cushion, providing the defense and offense are picking him up.

The closer position requires precision and the ability to instantly correct an issue. Jenks is out of shape, does not have the velocity he once did and now struggles with his confidence, from what was said on M & H this morning. IMHO, the Sox need to groom the next closer now because I don't believe Jenks has a long shelf-life. Maybe Poreda or another rookie can be groomed presently to help out when needed. A closer without confidence and control is a dead man walking. If Jenks fails, the Sox will too.

I am very concerned with Jenks along with the rest of the Sox bullpen.

I think Bobby Jenks will snap out of his post All-Star funk soon enough, but tonight, I've got to think Matt Thornton is the closer if the White Sox are in a save situation vs. the Rays. I thought Jenks was in trouble as soon as Jason Bartlett led off the top 9th with a single and the control wasn't there. Meanwhile, I've also got to think that Ozzie pinch runs for Carlos Quentin in the 7th or 8th inning for the forseeable future if he gets on base. Had the much-maligned Dewayne Wise ran for CQ in the bottom 7th last night, he might have scored a clutch insurance run and the Sox would have had a little more wiggle room...I think we saw a little proof positive that CQ isn't all the way back by stopping at third...

Not because of a demotion though, it would be because Jenks has thrown a lot of pitches in consecutive days.

have a feeling the rays run wild toinight against the rookie call up and its gonna be one ugly loss after the bs that happened last night.

I accept your assessment, but I believe people were pronouncing Mariano done because of his long career. I think others are pronouncing Jenks done because he has struggled for the last two years with a loss in velocity and number of strikeouts beginning in '08 and his career is relatively short in comparison.

I just think back to all the closers who were supposedly "done" over the years. Its understandable that fans are quick to dismiss because the importance of the position...but not always accurate.

Frank, had the White Sox stretched out Aaron Poreda's arm more, he would've been spot starting this game tonight instead of Carlos Torres. Poreda's gotten as much use as the Maytag Repairman since his own call-up, and I'm not surprised that Aaron got demoted right after the heartbreaking loss to the Rays last night.

With a guy making his major league pitching debut you expect this to be a loss. Sox are gonna have to put up 8 or 9 runs tonight to steal the win.

Torres is lucky to not be down 2 or 3 -0 already. He needs to throw strikes.
