I consider Peyton Manning the best QB in the NFL & Drew Brees the 2nd best. Having said that, what do you guys think Peyton Manning or Drew Brees would look like on this Bears team?

Peyton Manning has no running game to speak of, one of his starting WRs was playing in the same division as the University of Chicago two years ago, his left tackle (the most important line position) is horrendous, and his defense is substandard, especially after you get past the two guys playing DE and the safety who is injured again. And the Colts are 10-0. Peyton Manning would look like a hall of fame QB on the Bears. He'd look like a HOF QB on the Browns, or anywhere else. Just like Tom Brady looked like a hall of famer even when Jabar Gaffney was his number one receiver.

The problem isn't that Jay Cutler isn't Peyton Manning. The problem is that he isn't even Jake Delhomme or Chad Henne right now. That's pathetic.

Agreed. Cutler has looked like shit. He is playing scared and the over throws are a result of Jay trying to avoid INT's. But the Bears don't have anyone on the coaching staff who can help Cutler.
The only guy you ever see talking with Jay is Pep fucking Hamilton! Pep Hamilton! Just look at what he has done for the previous 12 Bears QB's.
So let me ask you this: What would Cutler look like on the Colts or Saints?

I came away very unimpressed after watching the last two weeks. Ray Rice made them look silly all afternoon. I know 15 points isn't a lot but Baltimore moved the ball down the field all day long, missed a chip shot field goal, and had an INT in the red zone. They're not Detroit bad or anything, but since Jay Cutler fans get to blame the defense, I think Manning would deserve to deflect any blame too, if there was any.

He's the QB coach. I honestly could not name another QB coach in the NFL. But he was brought in during the Rex Grossman decline. Obviously that didn't work out, but while he was here, Kyle Orton went from laughingstock of the NFL to viable starter, to the point that two teams in playoff contention have absolutely crumbled when he went down with an injury (they don't lose the game to Washington if he plays the whole way, for starters). If QB coaches actually have any effect whatsoever, I'd say that's not altogether bad.

The Colts and Saints would be far less good with Jay Cutler was QB. That's not even a debate. Unfortunately, the debate is whether the Dolphins, Panthers, Seahawks, etc. would be less good with Cutler. I hesitate to add the Broncos to that list, but ...

i guess we aren't seeing it the same. I've been pretty impressed the part two weeks and actually that helped change my mind on them. I thought maybe the stats were lying before. They've overcome multiple colts turnovers and kept getting big stops and keeping them in the game. I know they let up alot of points to the pats but thats a damn good offense and the ravens have some weapons too. Their rook did a good job on mason today despite the stats and the big drop by mason

You want people to admit they were wrong? Fine. Will you then admit you were wrong about the Bears WR's & Lovie Smith? I recall you writing glowing reviews of the Bears WR's, & telling me that you would rather have Lovie Smith as your head coach than Gruden, Holmgren, Shanahan, or Billick. The reality is that the Bears have regressed at nearly every position since the season started. The Bears problems run deep & all go back to lack of good Management & leadership.
As for Jay Cutler, I would still rather have him than Kyle or Rex.

Please quote all my glowing reviews of the Bears WRs. I said that I thought Devin Hester is a WR, which seems a rather uncontroversial proposition. I think Bennett is OK. I think Knox is the worst of the three but he's a rookie so its impossible to say. You seem to think "certainly not the worst group in the NFL" = "magnificent".

As for the coaches... yeah. I don't like any of those coaches. Sorry. You seem to love head coaches that won championships an average of one decade ago. No Dungy though. Interesting. Ponder that momentarily.

Now that I'm done pondering, also note that nowhere have I ever said that I thought Lovie Smith was any more than an above-average NFL coach. Can you do better? Yeah, maybe. Will they? Probably not with any of those guys, who you want just because you've heard of them before. I don't like change just so that the stupid can have a new savior to invest in.

Took me that entire first game against Green Bay to sort out what Urlacher told us before training camp even started. Urlacher was ahead of us all on the whole Jay Cutler's not that great tip.

as much as ive defended cutler all season this game was on him. he missed 3 wide open receivers tonight that wouldve scored standing up had he thrown to them with any sort of accuracy. all night he was missing if it was more than a 3 yard pass.

im also so sick and tired of seeing that quick screen to the wide receiver. hey guess what ron turner. IT DOESNT WORK EVER. especially when your receiver has no blocking whatsoever.


i thought the defense played well enough to win the game overall. although the last drive by the eagles they tore them apart after an entire half of being shut down. but i liked getting the turnovers for a change. too bad the pitiful offense could do nothing with them.

Scorehead...you have nailed it.....the Bears wide receivers are a joke...the passing offense is a farce...they don't have an OUT PATTERN....How can Bennett be too stupid to get on the field last year because he can't learn THIS scheme?

Cutler has played like shit for the better part of 8 consecutive quarters.

There are lots of problems with this team. Cutler right now is one of them, but I do believe he will be (boderline ) great in the long run.

Lovie Smith is a total boob and has to go. "We still feel like we're in the mix if we can correct a lot of things." You aren't in the mix for anything past January tee times.
