Thomas

They're both great. But, as Suckers quoted, from '91 to '97, Frank Thomas had one of the best runs in the history of baseball. Pujols can't say that he garnered all of the following in at least 6 consecutive years: at least 20 HRs, .300 avg, and 100 RBI/R/BB.

Pujols has the HRs avg RBI and Runs. He's short on the walks but he also has way more RBI and Home runs than Thomas had in that 6 year stretch.

Dont get me wrong Thomas was an amazing hitter.

Pujols is better.

Neither of them is above suspicion

First 9 years of career 162 games averages
Pujols
.334 AVG 42 HR 129 RBI .427 OBP .628 SLG 1.055 OPS

Thomas
.319 AVG 36 HR 125 RBI .442 OBP .575 SLG 1.017 OPS

Thomas over the 7 year stretch of 91-97 162 games averages
.330 AVG 40 HR 131 RBI .455 OBP .604 SLG 1.059 OPS

Only a moron wouldn't think this guy is a first ballot HOFer

So Thomas' amazing 7 year run is slightly < Albert Pujols entire career

Not really. Pujols has always been in favor of testing.

What an amazing career!!

F. Thomas was the best hitter I've seen in my lifetime and I'm not sure we will ever see the unique combo of his size, power, contact and remarkable plate discipline ever again.

How do you figure that? There's 6 stats... Thomas is better in 3, Pujols is better is 3... and the difference in each stat is basically nothing.

Youre right, in my rush to post, I misread the numbers.

Ok,so at his Peak, Thomas was = Pujols all the time.

Is that better?

Wouldn't it be more fair to say at their peaks both were pretty damn close?

The only other fair thing to do is to wait until Pujols has retired and look at both of their overall numbers.

Ironic there, Roger. You're generally one of the first ones to jump on me saying "your Cubs hate is hilarious," and I'm certain the only reason you are wanting to put Pujols ahead of Thomas is to get a rise out of Sox fans.

They're both among the best hitters ever, and both should be first ballot HOF'ers. But you're wrong if you think that Thomas is not further away from steriod use than Pujols is.

I dont deny trying to rile up Sox Fans sometimes.
I honestly believe Pujols is better.
The only team I truly hate is the Cardinals, but the guy is ridiculous.
The thing that puts him ahead of pretty much everyone, is he started doing it the second he got in the big leagues and hasnt stopped.

What does that even mean?

They either did or didnt. You can have a gut feeling but thats all it is.

Both are muscular, both hit a ton.

That is the evidence.

obviously pujols looks like he'll have a better career. they hit about the same, but pujols is a good fielder.

however, i await the HGH test.

Actually the same is true of Frank. IIRC he hit over .330 his first year.

I doubt it. We'll see if his career follows historical norms or steroid norms.

  Sox retire number of HOF player, Sox fans complain about price of ticket.

August 30 is "Commemorate Mark Buehrle's six-hit, two run game against the Orioles in April" day.

Yet another

When bigfan starts a thread about Frank Thomas day being a "prime" ticket date in a few weeks, you will be nowhere to be found.
