Just announced that the November 20th game of Northwestern vs. Illinois now has a sponsor. Kinda seems if this is successful it could be an every year thing. I'm sure that will have alot to do with Division alignments and things of that nature.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs and Northwestern University announced today that Allstate Insurance Company will be the official sponsor for the November 20, 2010 college football game between the Northwestern Wildcats and the Illinois Fighting Illini being held at Wrigley Field.

The Allstate Wrigleyville Classic will be the first time in more than 87 years that the two teams have faced off at Wrigley Field and the first time in nearly 40 years that a football game has been played at the Friendly Confines.

Chicago Cubs Executive Chairman Tom Ricketts and Allstate's Vice President of Marketing, Lisa Cochrane, joined Northwestern Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald and Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Phillips at Wrigley Field today to unveil the official logo for the November 20 event.

"We want to thank Allstate for partnering with the Cubs and Northwestern for what promises to be an instant college football classic," said Ricketts. "Wrigley will be a great venue for the Wildcats to take on their long-time rival Fighting Illini. Allstate's support and connection to sports sponsorship will help make this a special day for Wildcat and Illini fans and for Chicago sports."

As one of the most visible sponsors in college football, Allstate has partnered with Northwestern University through the company's "Good Hands®" field goal net program for the past five years and has donated $28,500 to the university's general scholarship fund.

"As Chicago's proud hometown insurer, Allstate is thrilled to be a part of this marquee sporting event at one of the most iconic sports venues in existence," said Cochrane. "We look forward to seeing the Allstate `Good Hands®' field goal net raised at Wrigley Field and celebrating our passion for college football with this great city."

"To be certain, Northwestern is ecstatic to team up with Allstate and the Chicago Cubs organization in showcasing this monumental event," said Phillips. "Allstate has been a wonderful partner of Northwestern Athletics in recent years and we look forward to working with them on this terrific event."

"We have had a student-athlete named to the prestigious 11-player Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® each of the past four years, and another student-athlete, Corbin Bryant, nominated this year," said Fitzgerald. "We are excited to be teamed up with Allstate who has the same strong set of values and sense of community we as a team strive for."

Tickets for this 2:30 p.m. CT game are available through the Northwestern Ticket Office. In order to purchase a ticket for the November 20 game, fans must purchase season tickets for Northwestern's five home games at Ryan Field. Season tickets are now on sale through Wildcat ticket outlets (Ryan Field Box Office, 847-491-CATS [2287] or NUsports.com).

The ticket-selling process for this game is so ridiculous it must have been the brainchild of a Kellogg grad.

Huh? They'll play for the Land of Lincoln trophy which last year replaced the Sweet Sioux Tomahawk which was deemed one of the racially insensitive things from the Chief Illiniwek era ;)

Its only ridiculous if you are an Illini fan... perfectly reasonable since it is OUR home game. It's a marketing gimmick afterall. The brainchild of AD Phillips after the success of the Winter Classic. Connect it to season ticket purchases. I really llike how they've handled it.

That's not up for debate... it is our home game. That's why Illinois got so few tickets. I'm assuming you are making some crack about the % of Illini vs. NU fans in the stands.

I still can't figure out how to get tickets to this thing. Rooftops are in the $200-275 range depending and nothing is on StubHub yet so I'm guessing NU people haven't gotten tix yet.

I'm trying to make some plans but I'm not buying a half-dozen NU season tickets to go see this game. I might just loiter on Sheffield and wait for field goals.

Yes. That was the crack. (Chas...don't get excited.)

I think there will be a LOT of NU scalping...excuse me...reselling of tickets going on and the Wrigleyville drunken frat-boy Illini crowd will be in full voice.

Then you have nothing to worry about getting tickets. Otherwise try to get the Illinois tickets through their ticket ofice or the Cubs. That's really your only other options

I have a confession. I bought 18 tickets for a little reunion. I sold them out quickly. But I did give two of them to a good friend who will be wearing orange. If I can grab some more, I will do my best to get them in your hands at cost Dr. Ken... you are one of the good ones!

I would probably take Dr. Ken's Purdue/NU tickets.

Dr Ken has two sold now. You only got to sell out tickets to a barn burner against Towson State or something.

How many tix do you guys need?

If I get 4 season tix at $121/per, plus (I can't tell from this order form how much Wrigley tix are - they have 5 tiers) but let's say $100 and I need 5, then I'd be out just about a grand.

So, that's roughly $100 per game for the non-Illini. If you guys take 4 each, then my cost per ticket of Illini is in the $160/per range minus what I can get rid of the other games Michigan State, Central Michigan, and ISU.

I might be interested in doing this.

I may be confirming that I'm going as early as this weekend, but my party would be a minimum of 4 people but possibly more. I could give you a firm number whenever you need it.

If you did go with just four, that would be fine too. Once you get past 4 it gets a lot harder to get seats together so we would probably split up anyways.

I wouldn't get more than 4. 4 maximizes the Wrigley buy whose excess would be used to defray the costs of taking on the Central Michigan and ISU games.

Do we have any Spartans here to pick up the slack on the MSU game?

Sold my 4 to the Iowa game.....paid half the season cost for the Evanston games.

I'm 95% sure I'm going to pull the trigger on this by Monday.

I'll have 4 tix available - Corner Adult section tickets - for -

Purdue
Iowa
Michigan State
Central Michigan
Illinois State

I'd like to know I have a game or two sold before I commit.

So, I'll say $120/game or best offer for the 4 tickets on the other games. For an extra $43/ticket, I can upgrade the ticket from Corner Adult to Prime Reserved but unless a couple people want that, I'm sticking with the Corner End Zone tickets.

Just let me know in this thread and I'll mark you down.
