Speaking of whistler, if Theriot does something big against the Cub, he will probably have a stroke.

Meh. Between Riot and Schumaker, you might have a functional 2nd basemen.

You should. Unless you player who: is an awful base runner, below average defender, has a mediocre average and has absolutely no power.

Nahh. They gave up a middle reliever.

He should probably take all of Schu's AB at 2B vs southpaws, and he might get a few from Ryan at SS. Basically he's replacing Felipe Lopez, who stunk.

Unless he turns him into a 15 win pitcher.

I figure he will hit about .660 and get at least one game winning hit against the Cubs next year.

Will the Wrigley faithful give him a standing ovation in his first at bat.

He'll be a relatively servicable 2nd baseman, hit just north of .270, 90% of which are singles.
There's nothing wrong with the lad, just that there's nothing particuarly special about him either.

This makes the Theriot deal last season even better.

After a few years of watching him, I finally realized how bad he is for a team. He's infield Rowand. He's now playing for a rival.

I would bet you he hits less than 8 next year.

For a cash strapped team like the Cardinals, not a very wise move at all as he's arbitration eligible and likely to pull down 3M. WTF were they thinking??

Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Wednesday that his club's willingness to trade Brendan Ryan results not from any personality issues, but simply from a baseball decision to go with Ryan Theriot as the St. Louis shortstop for 2011.

So Theriot is going back to SS. I guess the Cardinals are not as baseball smart as we all thought.

Dave Duncan will rub some of his magic oil on Theriot's arm. He will be throwing out baserunners from left field.
