I think they want him back but at a good price. If they offered arb and he accepted he would get a 1yr deal at a raise from his '10 salary of $6.25M. What if they sign him to a 2yr/$8M-$10M contract? That would definitely be a better deal for the Sox.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that Jorge De La Rosa will receive a 2yr/$21.5M contract from the Rockies with a player option for 2013 and a team option for 2014.

The starting pitchers market is really starting to thin out but that's a hell of a lot of money for an injury prone pitcher. The Rockies still need another solid pitcher to slide in behind Ubaldo, De La Rosa and Cook.

Berkman should fit nicely in the lineup behind Roidface and Holliday but I read they are going to play him in left and Holliday in right. If they play Theriot at SS this could be the worst defensive team in the history of baseball.

This team needs a 2B, a 3B, a SS, a backup catcher, a #5 starter, a LH setup man, and a couple more bullpen arms. What it does NOT need is a 1B or LF for $8M dollars. That's another $8m off the front end of a Pujols extension for a part that wasn't needed.
