Mac took the day off because he was ill. After Wanny resigned yesterday he was asked about Mac's condition. Wanny stated,
" He's gotta bowel, he'll be foin ".

He's been a horrible head coach in three different places. Still, he has done a better job at Pitt than he did with the Bears or Dolphins. I'm suprised they axed him. Pitt has been more relevant under his direction than they had been at any time in the past 25 years.

Didn't Pitt play in a BCS game just prior to Wanny taking over? If I remember correctly, Walt Harris turned the program around, and then Wanny came in and instantly fucked things up.

Wanny's record with the Dolphins was better than Lovie's record with the Bears with the same number of playoff appearances and 1 less playoff win in 3 fewer seasons.

To a large degree, he was the scapegoat in the Ricky Williams retiring at the start of training camp debacle

Wannstedt was taking over for Jimmy Johnson.

Lovie was taking over for Dick Jauron.

Wanny had 10 wins in year 4. Lovie had 7.

Just pointing out the differences in perspective. That's all.

2/3rds of the world is covered by water.....the other 3rd is covered by Walt.

Good lord, he was GIVEN a playoff team. He never took that team any further than Jimmy Johnson did.

It was Jerry Angelo's first year, when the Bears went 13-3 - and then he felt pressured to give Tricky Dick an extension. Worst 13-3 team in the history of football!

In 4 years, Johnson never won his division. Wanny did it 3 times.

Johnson never won more than 10 games. Wanny did it twice.

Johnson had Dan Marino. Wanny had Jay Fiedler.

Yes, they played in the Fiesta Bowl, I was reading that Walt Harris went to coach Stanford, so Pitt went with Wanny.

Yo Wanny defender:

As I stated: Dave Wannstedt never took that team any further than Jimmy Johnson did.

When did Wanny ever get the Dolphins any further than Jimmy Johnson did?

In '98 under Jimmy Johnson, the Dolphins won their wild card game against the Bills, but lost in the next round to the Patriots.

Under Jimmy Johnson, in '99 they beat Seattle in the wild card round, and lost to Jacksonville in the next round (in grand fashion I will add - 62-7 in Dan Marino's last game. Marino's stat line: 11-25 for 95 yards, 2 INT, 1 TD HOW COULD DAVE WANNSTEDT REPLACE SUCH A STUD QB???

So Jimmy wrapped up his coaching career with consecutive one win in the playoffs, and then elimination.

Enter Wanny - complete with a press conference during the playoffs - which is a classless move btw.

In 2000, they beat Indy in the wild card game under Wanny and then lost in the 2nd round.
In 2001, they lost in the wild card round.
In 2002, they didn't make the playoffs.
In 2003, they didn't make the playoffs.
In 2004, Dave Wannstedt resigned with a 1-8 record.

So again, I repeat, Wanny never took the Dolphins any further than Jimmy Johnson did.

Wanny while at Pitt lost almost all of his huge games he was in. he had some great talent there and had decent records, he just lost the big games. Even when he was favored!

...and Wanny got fired from his last three jobs. He can call them resignations if he'd like though.

Indisputable!

Lovie hasn't been fired from any of his previous three jobs - since somebody wanted to compare the two.

Within that "big game" record he also had a terrible W/L % on weeknights and games that he had more than 7 days to game plan.
