I don't have time to read thru the threads, but I just went back and glanced at pages like 4 and 5 in the Cubs forum. I saw about 15-20 Theo threads. I'm sure there are multiple examples of Theo adoration there.

Actually it's mostly like this

You pragmatists on here can call it what you want,I call it losing. As a Cub fan,it makes
me sick to my stomach. How much further can this team of ragtag, poor young talent
fall? This pitching staff is worse than the one Dusty Baker got saddled with some years back in his last season. You can not come back next season with this kind of crap. You can develop talent, have a young corp, but at least sign some (any) free agents.

ok dolphin, you keep fighting imaginary theo adoring adoring cub fans and projecting long careers for middle relievers. I mistakenly thought you could discuss baseball rationally. I will not makeep that mistake going further.

Right...they're probably in there. No sense in actually looking.

BTW crediting him with the two ws he won is not adoration

Here are some of the threads. I have not read them. A lot of them are pretty lengthy. And this doesn't even include the threads started by jimmypasta...and I think I skipped most of bigfan's as well

Now, how would I have ever gotten the perception that Cubs fans adored Epstein.

The love for the guy has bordered on the rediculous this year.
#1 That makes no sense. Jackson is a Henry guy
#2 Id like some evidence of this theo adoration. I've seen sox fans talk of it. I've seen Media outlets print dumb pics. Haven't yet seen a cub fan adore Theo
just a vast soxwing conspiracy going on to make cubs fans look bad
So you have no evidence and are just pretty much saying whatever. Good talk.

This board has 1000s of posts on the cubs all year. Id like to see ONE post that gives Theo adoration.
1) I don't buy into your theory that the media creates the Theo adoration rather than reflecting it so I would submit, among other cover stories, a picture of a guy walking on water in an analogy to a person I consider the literal God of all things known and unknown

2) Steve's posts in this section have boiled down to nothing more than the presence of Epstien ensuring the rebuild's future success.

maybe I'll spend some time researching further because you say you are not satisfied.

I don't read anything Steve posts but having confidence in a successful gm is not adoration.

Kenny gets more undue props than Theo on this board

And even if cub fans were like that....I am Not. So don't tell me id swoon. It couldn't be further from the truth.

My first post on this board was ripping the 97 win cubs as they entered the post season. So direct your bullshit elsewhere

Middle relievers aren't critical components to a team and don't have long careers?

You act as if Reed winning the closer's role and producing in that position doesn't portend to some success.

That is irrational discussion.

So frank....you're saying many threads about a person = adoration?

This board must love Elmhurst Steve

No. I'm saying that I am sure somewhere in that mess there are at least a few examples of Theo adoration.

And yes middle relievers don't tend to have long careers. Look up Reeds three year projections. Tell me ifcthays what you're thinking.

This is becoming a Joe Orr Road choking discussion. Articles and threads and Jesus analogies and Dan Bernstien talking about back of the synagogue deals getting done all before the first pitch of his Cubs career are not adoration.

I guess the only evidence of adoration would be a picture of someone lying prostrate in homage...oh wait, he did have that and she got arrested

http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=68579

I am sure there is something in that mess that says that Adam Dunn is better than Babe Ruth. But no I haven't read any of it.

 Yeah middle relieves are known for having long careers.

Have you ever seen a baseball game?

So I guess no one on this board has adored Theo and your evidence that cub fans do engage in this practice is a Red Sox fan who has stalked him for years?

Happy offseason. Now go praise the Gm with two playoff appearances in 12 years and rip the one with Two world series titles in 11

Nope, no adoration.

Is there a Kenny Williams t shirt, because I want it?

Is that good enough evidence for you?

Sox have two on their team right now. Even a team that knew it would have 100 losses found a spot for one. In short, long career middle relievers are no more of an oddity than long career starters.

No. Are you serious?

So you are basically like a SCORE host now. There's a t shirt that someone made so that means Cub fans Adore Epstein

Ill ask again. On this message board with 10's of 1000's of posts on the Cubs. Find one serious post that adores Epstein. You cant.

And you are wrong about Starters vs Middle relievers. Again, there is data available on this stuff. You dont just have to say "whatever"

There's a t shirt not that someone made, but that someone is selling, and others are buying. Can you find a shirt being sold by ANY other baseball fan base featuring the team president?

You want to define the debate but you don't control. You can continue to deny the cult of personality. You are certainly winning...in your head.

George Steinbrenner- dead
Hawk Harrelson- there are lots of Sox fans that adore the guy. I don't think any would place any faith in him as a GM
Beane- that man is adored by an even wider ranging audience than Epstien and people certainly put blind faith into him

"Give him a lifetime contract"
- Prominent CSFMB Sox fan on Kenny Williams

But Im not gonna be silly and start applying that to sox fans as a whole. That would be ridiculous.

Epstein is a good gm with a winning record. Fans are excited he's here. That doesn't mean he's blindly followed.

Also, many people on this board seem to think the Cubs were the first team to ever rebuild. Every year several teams go into the season knowing they are not playoff bound.

Not often a team as mighty as the heritage franchise NL Chicago Baseball Club.
