Bear fans? This is Nas. He does this every year. I would venture to say that you cannot find another Bear fan around here that agrees with him.

Most of us would be thrilled with an 8-8, 9-7 season and showing some steps forward.

I agree with Nas. I think the second round picks pushed the Bears over the hump.

You agree with Nas that the Bears are winning the division?

You have been trashing this team from the draft on and now you wanna say you think they will win the division?

Terrible.

I was more referring to Nas, Frank, and America saying Rodgers is breaking down. I was dumb enough to start a thread about that a couple years ago, so I understand being susceptible to a dumb, lazy storyline like that, I just found it funny that it was three of the first six or whatever posts in here.

Gotcha. Yeah I hope he is breaking down, but would think you have to assume otherwise for a few more years.

Father Time is still undefeated despite Tom Brady putting up the best fight we've ever seen. I think Rodgers will take a step back. That'll still be more than enough to be the best QB in the division but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to dominate the division like he has. I have them finishing 3rd.

I'm a Bears meatball. I will never deny that. I truly believe that the offense has held the Bears back from competing in the division the past couple of years. I think the offense will be improved and they could surprise many people. There is no doubt in my mind this will be a fun team to watch.

The Packers are not down. If Rodgers is healthy they are a 12 win team and on the short list of SB contenders.

They will go as far as Rodgers can take them.

Of course, that's every team with an all time great QB in his prime.

But you guys are all sleeping pretty hard on the rest of the team. They're bringing back one of the best offensive lines in football, they have good pass rushers who are neither old nor particularly injury prone. They have good safeties. As you said they invested a lot in their CB spot but I agree it doesn't excite me much what they have there still. Their LB corp is a weakness unless one of their draftees stands out. Davante Adams is better than Allen Robinson and every other WR in the division not named Stephon Diggs. Their RB committee is extremely talented. They replaced one of the worst defensive coordinators in the league with a well respected one.

Thinking this team sucks outside of Rodgers seems a little out of town stupid to me.

Their pass rushers suck. They are banking on a Wilkerson return-to-form because while Daniels is obviously a great player he's not great at getting to the QB. Other than that its still Nick Perry and Clay Matthews. They've got a really good defensive line and a probably average-to-above-average secondary. What that means to me is they have a defense that will not lose them games (like it did under Capers) but wont win them games either.

I am not anywhere near as high on the offense as you are. They've clearly improved their tight end position, nothing could be worse than what Bennett gave them last year, but they seem to have taken the approach of just throwing a bunch of WR's into camp and seeing what Rodgers can make out of them (this feeds my sentiment that this Packers team will go entirely as Rodgers goes). They have a good offensive line, wont say they are any better than that until/unless Bulaga shows he's fully recoevered from his injury.

It all depends what you think of Rodgers. If you Rodgers is still in his prime you think the Packers will be good. I can certainly tell you that they are not good enough to weather losing Rodgers for 5 or so weeks. They are also not good enough to overcome Rodgers losing a step. Like I said, the possibility that Rodgers goes supernova and blows out all our expectations for the Packers is out there...but as I compile a list of possible Rodgers outcomes and assigning them probability off what I've seen from Rodgers recently I feel pessimistic about the Packers chances.

Yeah I don't know where you are getting almost any of that from. Rodgers played in 54 out of 54 possible games between collar bone injuries, and collarbone injuries are not chronic like knee and back injuries are. He literally has shown zero evidence he is declining or breaking down. There's just nothing there to be pessimistic about.

You'll see by December how badly you are underestimating Adams star potential. He is awesome. Montgomery is perfectly suited for the new pass catching back position, and Jones and Williams are hammers and Jones has shown three down back skills. Add that to a great line and a top 2 QB and you have a great offense. I agree the defense overall should be middle of the pack and that should be good enough to get them to 11-12 wins.

I think the love for Minnesota is misguided as well. Cousins is nowhere near a top tier QB and routinely shits the bed in basically every big game he's ever played in. He's accrued some of the emptiest passing stats of anyone in the NFL not named Matt Stafford. I understand why Bear fans would be scared of the Vikings. As a GB fan I am decidedly not.

Anything's possible but there's zero evidence to support the idea that Rodgers is declining. It's just throwing shit at the wall and seeing if it will stick. Maybe it will.

All indications point to him having another vintage Rodgers year though.

Hasn't the narrative been the last couple years that the Oline for the Packers was a problem? How have they become a great Oline now?

They were a problem a few years ago. The past two years they have graded out between top 5-7 in the league depending what you use as your source. PFF has them ranked 5th going into next season right now.

I have always been a believer in (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and I was overjoyed with their two main additions to the receiving corps this offseason. Miller and Robinson are going to bring a lot. Their offensive line is good. Good enough to not sabotage what (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is capable of.

That optimism combined with their running game and defense (I do believe they are slightly overrated on defense) plus their improved special teams...they'll be good. Maybe not beat-the-Vikings-for-the-division good, but I feel safe saying they are one of the stronger wild card contenders.

the left side of their offensive line is very good, their center is solidly a starter. their right side is anyone's guess this year.

I think (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has all the ingredients to be a really good QB and I believe that the Bears have surrounded him with the people to help him put it together. I expect for him to be really good this year. Especially in the 2nd half of the season.

This is true, although Bulaga is allegedly on track to start the season. Still it is hard to be confident about his health.

It's certainly possible he takes the leap from 32nd best QB in the NFL to 24th or so. I'm not gonna rule it out.

They dont have enough star power to win without Rodgers and they are simply not built like a grind-it-out team. Their linemen are all pass blockers and their defense is built, like I said, to not-lose rather win games.

Rodgers has missed enough games over the past few seasons that I'm allowed to worry how his body is doing.

I think (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will finish either 2nd or 1st in the NFCN in all major passing stats. Entirely depends on how Rodgers does.

Outside of the collarbone injury Rodgers hasn't missed a single game the last four seasons. Outside of two freak collarbone injuries he's been consistently healthy his entire career. This simply isn't a worry you're basing on anything factual. But yes, you're allowed to worry about anything.

He will be a distant fourth in most of them.

I'm not buying it. His body is becoming worn out from the NFL. That may not be a verified medical condition but it is a dynamic everyone knows exists.

I can't imagine breaking the same collarbone twice is a positive. I imagine that makes increases the odds for another break. He's missed 16 games in 5 years.

I don't know what this response means. He missed 9 games last year because of the injury. He played in 48 out of 48 games before that. This "dynamic" isn't a thing that exists, and I haven't heard it discussed anywhere outside this thread.

There's a reason the Packers have one of the highest O/U's in the NFL. The public is not anticipating Rodgers breaking down and is actively betting on him having a healthy and typical Rodgers year.

Another way to say it is he's missed 18 games in 10 seasons and 16 of them were because of two isolated injuries.

Neither of us is a doctor but google is all you need to disprove your second sentence.

The belief was that it would be stronger after the first break. That didn't happen.

How do you know? Nobody said it would be unbreakable after the first surgery. It's simply not an injury that appears chronically, regardless of how many times you try to imply otherwise. Current medical professionals disagree with you so it's probably not something we need to keep debating.

It's ok to acknowledge you and America falsely assumed Rodgers had more injury history than he does.

Outside of the collarbone injury Rodgers hasn't missed a single game the last four seasons. Outside of two freak collarbone injuries he's been consistently healthy his entire career. This simply isn't a worry you're basing on anything factual. But yes, you're allowed to worry about anything.

I can't imagine breaking the same collarbone twice is a positive. I imagine that makes increases the odds for another break. He's missed 16 games in 5 years.

You don't think missing 16 games in 5 years is a lot for a QB? Outside of a suspension Tom Brady hasn't missed a game in 9 years and he's 6 years older.

I think there's just been a lot of drama around the Packers. The injury years and the R-E-L-A-X season, it builds an image in your mind that the Packers had some rabbits foot keeping them alive. All that felt like it dried up last year. They wont be as bad as the Lions. 7-9 against would be my honest guess.

It's on the higher end but when you include the context of that same QB only missing 18 games over 10 seasons and never having one chronic injury I think there's nothing to be worried about and it's silly if not outright just wrong to suggest he is injury prone.

Its happened twice. Its chronic whether you want to admit it or not. I'm sure they are people in the world who are just born with shitty collarbones, or even just born with collarbones that cant survive the NFL.

I dunno man, everything you're posting is based on hopes and dreams and there's no evidence to support any of it. If he plays 15+ games, which he has done 80% of the time as a starter, GB's floor is 10 wins. It just is. Everything else is just noise.
