A place like, say, Bari, makes their own sausage, meatballs, giardinara, sweet peppers, etc. The meat they use is right there for you to see in the They are hardly alone on the local 4.8 stars list in chicago that you reference. I can even get Bari, JP Grazianos, Fontanos, D'Amatos, etc. delivered to the office downtown.

There is a place off 355 and maple, Mojos, that bills itself as Philly east coasty. People say its great and have had it as a catered platter thing, not the cheesesteak though. It's expensive but if it's your thing and are nearby maybe give it a try.

Monti's in Lincoln Square is supposed to be the most authentic. It's excellent. Philly's Best has a few locations. It's pretty good.
